Jahy-sama wa Kujikenai! - Episode 14 - 10 Second Anime

Jahy-sama wa Kujikenai! - Episode 14
Jahy fights the Magical Girl then visits her house. A hungry, mysterious visitor greets the Dark Realm’s Number Two.

Restoration Plan No. 14 – “The Magical Girl Will Not Fight!”

Hmm.

The Great Jahy revealed where the Demon Lord was! We also saw how Jahy uses crystals to fight. I liked the imaginative way crystals are malleable. Jahy fights like a melee wizard! The show hasn’t been forthcoming in how great the Great Jahy can be. Sometimes, like when we see Druj’s memories, Jahy smites demons into oblivion with a magenta lightning strike. Other times, like when we saw Saurva’s memories, Jahy’s reputation appears ill-deserved because Saurva defeats herself. We saw a hint of Jahy’s natural strength when she tried showing off for Kokoro. Only last episode did we see Jahy manipulate a mana crystal with waves of magenta light surrounding her. The Great Jahy made a leap from that scene to Jahy turning shards into a gigantic mace ball. That was fun!

The episode confirmed things about the Magical Girl and revealed critical details about her origin story. Like, the Magical Girl never met Jahy or the Demon Lord. A mysterious voice transformed her into an anime-style magical girl and pointed Kyouko straight at the Dark Realm’s central mana crystal. Kyouko had the predisposition toward misfortune even before collecting crystals. Now, she’s tough enough to take the punishment that comes from ill luck. I still think she gets off to pain in an unhealthy way. She and Druj should compare notes.

I’ll always complain about opening and end credit sequences that spoil jokes and plot points before the respective moments arrive. The Great Jahy did us no favors revealing the miniature Maou, her fast hands, and insatiable appetite for the season’s second half editions. However, the anime made an enjoyably dramatic scene of Maou’s introduction. It also came so soon after Jahy and Kyouko made peace, emphasizing how intertwined their lives have been and will become more so.

I wasn’t a fan of how The Great Jahy used the shounen anime convention of enemies talking to each other more than fighting during a battle as an exposition device. I didn’t like it when Bleach or Naruto did it, and I barely tolerated it here. At least Jahy turned her duel with Kyouko into the most aggressive love confession I’ve seen recently. I also enjoyed watching Jahy in her strappy outfit for several continuous minutes.

The episode did raise questions, though. The Great Jahy has made a joke of how well Druj has been collecting mana fragments. Since Maou appears at the greatest concentration of mana crystals, why didn’t she show up to Druj first? Is it as simple as why Jahy agreed to visit Kyouko’s house? For snacks? Another issue is how Jahy is the Maou Whisperer. She needs to interpret the Demon Lord’s speech as if she were a high priestess.

Maou is a low talker, a common personality trait for high-status girls in authority positions. Jahy acted like Druj when Druj misinterpreted Jahy’s words to fit her perspective in earlier The Great Jahy episodes. But Maou was quick to show her disagreement. I wonder if that happened in the Dark Realm too. I also wonder who the mysterious voice belongs to. The voice credits say that Maou and the Voice have different actors, but Maou is just grunting at this point. Did Maou invite the Magical Girl to destroy the Dark Realm so she could come to the human world for fast food delivery? And we still don’t know who Jahy’s mysterious guitar-shredding neighbor is. I’m still looking for answers.

Heh.

Girl fight in The Great Jahy! Jahy has buckets of red rocks. Nothing good ever happens by the riverbank. Kyouko didn’t even recognize the Great Jahy, which means these two never fought before. Jahy is a crystal fighter, which reminds me of Rin Tohsaka from Fate. The Magical Girl can handle flying shards. Let’s get it on! Whoa. Jahy can forge weapons from the crystals. Spear vs. Staff.

Ugh. The Great Jahy has lots of jawing in this fight. This is like Naruto fighting Sasuke to reach his heart. Twice. Can’t Jahy and Kyouko do this by mud wrestling? Ahahaha! Jahy spouts nonsense about loving Kyouko to bits to stop her from destroying the mana crystals. That worked! The Magical Girl just wanted a friend. Jahy-kun just let another troublesome lady into her life.

Yup. Kyouko is an overbearing friend. Finally. Bribe Jahy with snacks, and she’ll follow you home. Woof. Kyouko’s compound turned into a house of horrors after she started collecting crystals and misfortune. There’s even a ghost in the room with all the red fragments! Ah! Aaaaaaah! It’s the Demon Lord! Maou stole Kyouko’s food! Oh, man. That’s perfect. The teeny Jahy laments how tiny the Demon Lord became.

After The Great Jahy dumps info on the audience about the enormous mana crystal as Maou’s heart, it’s time to party! Bring on the fancy snacks! Uh, bring on more fancy snacks... The Demon Lord is the Demon Hoover. Did Maou appear at Druj’s store of crystals and move on because there wasn’t any food there? Aw. Jahy tries to be happy with Maou’s “gift” of octopus tentacle. Maou tried...

Oh! Kyouko wanted to tell Jahy her origin story. The Great Jahy hits all the formulaic numbers here. She almost died saving a kitten from drowning. A mysterious light spoke to her, gave her magical powers, and told her to destroy the source of human suffering. Right. The Demon Lord’s heart, which held the Dark Realm together. Enough of that. Here’s a teeny, tan girl with a distended belly. Jahy explained that as the Number Two, only she heard the voice of Maou. She’s not doing well in listening now, though. Rejected! Maou wants to stay with Kyouko for her snacks! Get some snacks, Jahy.

Next time, the Store Manager has a dilemma.
