Angelina’s American crew chase after deserters who are also responsible for mysterious vampiric murders in Tokyo, including Tatsuya’s classmate Leo.

Mahouka is in the middle of putting together a puzzle for the second episode. The way it works is that many groups have different puzzle pieces, and they start laying them down to make a complete picture. Tatsuya’s group of talented friends comes at the puzzle with spiritual magic expertise from Mikihiko and Erika’s intention to protect a “student.” Angelina’s group lays down puzzle pieces of knowing who the perpetrators are and direct knowledge of the effect of their abilities, but not any explanations of how they changed after they deserted her elite magician team. Mayumi and Juumonji have their own pieces too, knowing the identities of all the victims, who are all magicians or potential magicians. Two of the Ten Master Clan families just made an alliance to hunt down the vampires.

The question for Mahouka after this is how quickly all the sides put down all their pieces and we get to the set action piece that makes Tatsuya look supernaturally gifted. Ahem, “tough in a fight.” At some point, the Tatsuya faction will be at odds with the Americans and Tatsuya will show his other cards of how he’s stronger than the USNA Strategic Class Magician Angie Sirius. That’s how Mahouka rolls.

Masked people harming civilians. Do they die after an unsuccessful attempt at finding a “compatible host?” Oh. They die. “Drained of blood,” the urban legends say. Tatsuya says only 10% of the blood is missing. Speculation of occult powers means that’s what’s happening. I’m not guessing. These are Mahouka’s rules. If Tatsuya said it, it is so. The urban legend has the title “vampire serial murders.”

Ah. Angelina is busy with her new priority of finding the defectors. Those masked guys are the deserters, obviously. Cast jamming doesn’t work on “Deimos Second.” That guy runs away quick when Angelina shows up. Welp, Leo became caught up in this mess. Why was he walking around by himself anyway? Was he looking for the “vampire” himself? He found one! The “vampire” drained Leo of strength. Not enough, though. He gave the masked one a good body blow. Angie Sirius scared him off. Leo didn’t die and he’s a living specimen for clues.

Erika is the first one in Leo’s hospital room. OTP! Mikihiko posits Leo fought a “parasite.” Leo lost a ton of spiritual energy, but he’s strong like an ox, so he’s fine just sitting up and talking. The question remains about the missing blood. Aw. Leo put on a brave performance, but Erika gets to see him weak and struggling. OTP!

Angelina and Sylvia don’t know much more than Tatsuya’s scooby gang, other than Deimos Second doesn’t need a CAD anymore to cast magic. Ha. Angelina checked herself out in the mirror. Does she like her adult image projection so much? Mayumi and Juumonji need to get the magic families involved because of Leo’s public assault. The masked parasites target magicians or those who have magic potential. More clues.
