The Allies successfully took back Kiel, so Operation Southwind is back on with General Patton leading the ground campaign towards Berlin. More of the military gathers at the port, including Ursula, Erica's much more responsible and tech savvy twin sister. Her new inventions for assisting the witches don't appear to be much help, though. Unfortunately for Patton, the Neuroi nest over Berlin started raining down rockets near Kiel. It's a new thing to worry about.
The Strike Witches discovered the source of the Neuroi rockets is the top of the Wolf nest itself. Their strategy is to knock out the rockets when they're at their slowest, but they'll need a supersonic Striker Unit to get there in time. Ursula's real invention was the Strike Witches' version of the Me 163 Komet which used magical jet fuel to stop the witches from draining their power so quickly from flying a jet engine. That jet fuel is magical in other ways, like melting clothing. You can see where this is going.
Minna thinks she's best suited to fly the Komet because her spatial sensing magic lets her aim weapons and locate enemies at the incredible speeds the supersonic Strike Units achieve. She also feels the need to do something to make sure she and Trude can still contribute to the war effort to take back Karlsland while they still have their witch powers. They're both nineteen and about to turn twenty, when witches lose the power to operate their flying thigh-high boots.
They eye catches feature Minna and how she saw her special friend Mio lose her powers. Trude already sees Minna starting to lose her power because she's more fatigued than usual.
The Karlslander witches volunteer to accompany Minna and the Komet to get close enough to the Neuroi nest and stop its rockets from pounding Kiel. Minna successfully stopped a rocket launch, but the Neuroi cloud was hiding the full extent of its abilities.
Minna only had enough fuel to make it back to the trucks, but then she saw a massive array of rockets appear from the Neuroi cloud's top. She sacrificed her remaining power to take them all out and thought she had given her all for the Strike Witches. Trude and Erica wouldn't accept that and rescued her before she fell into the Neuroi cloud. Happy ending, for now.
We were in store for a happier ending! Ursula tripped over the fuel line, splashing that magical jet fuel everywhere. It was a beautiful sight. Thank you, Ursula!
