Elaina came to a region with rival winemaking villages. The Boss of This Village really liked Rosemary's picture on the rival's wine label, but it became clear that he, and the other men of This Village, actually just liked the idea of a woman's bare feet "stepping lovingly" on grapes. The women of This Village knew a fetish when they heard one.
It's not clear why the Boss couldn't get one of his own women to "step lovingly" on their grapes, unless they saw through to his ulterior motive and didn't want to give him satisfaction. Just before Elaina started grape stomping, she met the famous Rosemary and she was impressive. And had a dismissive attitude about "thin" girls. I'm not sure people could tell the difference between grapes stepped on "angrily" versus "lovingly."
After Elaina learned all her stomping would only produce half a cask of wine. If she was one pretty lady doing all the "stepping lovingly," how did Rosemary produce so much wine? The Boss learned the truth that all those burly dudes carrying Rosemary around were the ones who crushed the grapes. The Boss was bitterly disappointed his fetish was not fulfilled.
A big fight ensued between the villagers and people started throwing grapes at each other. Elaina, who had been sampling the product generously, decided to help out magically. Thus started the tradition between the villages of throwing grapes after the harvest season. It's fun to see that they made at least one wine label with Elaina's angry stepping.
