Chizuru the rental girlfriend for Kazuya saw that he started to have a physical reaction to the sticky situation they were in.
Kazuya just got dumped by his new college girlfriend, so while in a depressive state he tried a rental girlfriend service. He met Chizuru, who was outwardly perfect, but the discovered she was just a good performer. While on a second date to tell her off, they ended up at the hospital to visit his grandmother. Chizuru would have to pretend to be his real girlfriend!
Chizuru realized her grandmother was on the same floor as Kazuya's, so it was going to be a real problem when his grandma gathered all the other old ladies to gawk at the hot new girlfriend. They hid in an empty room under some bed covers and inexperienced Kazuya couldn't help but nonverbally confirm his attraction to Chizuru's sexy body.
It was all for nothing because Chizuru's grandma discovered them when they thought they were in the clear. Now she and Kazuya have to play the loving couple for two families. For a little while anyway. Just when Kazuya didn't think he'd ever see Chizuru again, a mousy college girl recognized him and he realized he had found Chizuru again. Is Kazuya going to start his popular phase when his self-esteem is at its lowest? What will Chizuru do about that?
The opening credit sequence played during the end credits, which let us see Kazuya's potential harem members. It was very strange to hear Aqua from Konosuba keep yelling out "Kazuya" instead of "Kazuma," especially when the male voice actor did his best to imitate that other character's bitter virgin attitude. Any romantic comedy not set in high school gets a couple of looks from me, so this first episode was extra promising to watch for the whole season.
