Toaru Kagaku no Railgun T - Episode 9 - 10 Second Anime

Misaki and Mikto infiltrate Kihara's headquarters but discover how formidable an opponent he really is.

#9 - "Mitori Kozaku"

Hmm.

The team of Kuroko and Uiharu and the other team of Mikoto and Misaki had the kind of scenes we expect them to have. One was investigative, the other was badass, but both of their actions only served to set up pieces of information for the next episode. The most important characters in the episode were Saten and Touma, Spiky-kun himself.

Saten the normie has the natural bad luck of a Nancy Drew, where she always finds herself in the middle of a dangerous, mysterious plot. Her experiences in the supposedly abandoned factory drove the overall plot forward more than any of the psychic-powered celebrities did for two episodes.

In her sphere was the all-important Spiky-kun. Saten may have natural bad luck, which may or may not have originated when Touma accidentally erased the power of her good luck charm, but Spiky-kun has plot armor. The fun thing about a character's plot armor is that it can extend itself to other important characters until they get to the set action piece where Touma's fist of doom smacks some important villain in the face.

Because Touma made a promise to meet up with Saten to return her good luck charm, you know he's going to be dragged into the final scene where Railgun gets tsundere with him, Kuroko grows jealous of him, and he laments his misfortune with a keening cry to the heavens. Now, just give me Spiky-kun's falcon punch before the end of episode 12, otherwise I'll be crying about my own misfortune.

Heh.

Mikoto is on the job! Give us a bit of the Railgun Razzle Dazzle to start the action off right. Mental Out prefers working with more elegance. These two are like the difference between an elemental wizard and a charismatic bard on a heist mission in a dungeon. Misaki is only effective because of how many people are around. Mikoto is effective because of the reliance on electronic devices and E-M communications. It's a good debate about whose methods are more effective depending on the circumstances.

Mikoto's scooby gang is on the job too. They're tracking down Metal Nurse. Ah. Reform school. This is where the alphabet soup groups get their psychic members. It's not like they let the problem children out of Academy City and back to wherever they came from. Saten found out where the real place is, right? That's always her good luck.

The scooby gang is on the move, but Mii will have to stay behind to watch Misaka Mama sleep. Can we get a shot of those two milk monsters together? Please? Nice! Spiky-kun gets to have his "misfortune" scene with Saten. It really is bad luck. How could you find a good luck charm in science-biased Academy City? Aw. He's worried about breaking its powers with his right hand.

There goes Saten getting in trouble again. She's the best deus ex machina plot driver in the show. Oh? Metal Nurse is dead? Ha! Librarian Lady loves conspiracy theories that are totally not true. Except they describe exactly what happens in Academy City's alphabet soup world… Kuroko's deep voice grunts are hilarious.

Nice sunglasses. Mikoto trying to look like an SP (security personnel). Ha! Misaki and Mikoto got to the same place at the same time.

Saten is where the action really is. Heh. The minions call Mitori a "cosplaying slave driver." I love it when Saten and Uiharu yell "-te!" to themselves. Oops. There's a bad girl. Xochitl still in her disguise. These alphabet soup groups are always betraying each other. Aw. Mitori cut Saten's notebook in half. And her little digging spade too? She really wanted to find that Shadow Metal. Oops. Xochitl got fooled into thinking she was working for MEMBER, when she was actually working for Kihara's group. Alphabet soup skullduggery.

Aw. Railgun T could have drawn Saten’s belly button better. Lucky for Saten that Xochitl needs to bust up Mitori's plot. Saten remembered Xochitl from when she showed her how to use a cell phone. Bonk! Saten has that effect on people…

Oh ho. Kihara thought so far ahead, he implanted a memory in his decoy for Misaki to find and taunt her. It was all a ploy to get her away from where she's keeping Misaka 10032 safe. Buckle up!
