Misaki recalls her friendship with a prototype clone during the startup phase of her Exterior research project.
#10 - "Genius Workshop CLONE DOLLY"
Hmm.
Calling a clone "Dolly" in Railgun T's context is a bit on the nose, since the first mammalian clone in history was a sheep named Dolly. I'm disturbed that the clone looked like Mikoto Mikasa, which might explain Misaki's complicated feelings toward Mikoto herself. One thing I liked about Misaki's time with Dolly, whose first friend was Mitori, who left her under emotional or puzzling circumstances, was how Dolly recognized Misaki was impersonating Mtiori because she smelled differently. The younger Misaki was not yet sophisticated enough to know that smell is the most important sense for triggering memories. That was a nice touch.
The other thing I liked is how Railgun T gave me an "whoa" moment toward the end of the episode. First off, discovering what Exterior was a shocking moment. The clone researchers cloned Misaki's brain and made a huge copy out of it! But that's not even the most shocking part. They were trying to make it so anyone could use the Mental Out power from the big brain.
All that power, just for Kihara to do the most shocking thing — manipulate the Misaka Network into shifting Mikoto herself to Level 6! Wow! Kihara gamed Misaki and Mikoto into being where he needed them to be to start the process. Evil geniuses are common in this show, but that's villainous thinking.
Heh.
Whoa. Misaki has some kind of power booster at Exterior.Ah. Extended flashback. Those helmets are like what Magneto wears to keep Professor X from dominating his thoughts. The Prototype, named "Dolly." And she looks like Mikoto Misaka… And she's holding a jar of liquid metal… And her friend she called "Mi-chan" looks like a younger Mitori. Man, what an efficient flashback! We'll have to see what Mitori's motivations are, but since Kihara can strategize against people's actions so well, plus the mind reading, he probably doesn't care and just used whatever it was to get his way.
Misaki changed Dolly's perception to recognize her as Mitori, but Dolly figured it the change when she smelled her hair. There's always a promise to see the ocean. Who will Misaki take to the beach when all this is over? Misaki has always been bad at sports and didn't like to admit it.
Aw. Here comes the drama and Misaki's fun days are over. Bye, Dolly. She made a new friend at the end in Misaki. This isn't good. These researchers aren't wearing their helmets. Little girl Misaki took over the lab and Exterior at this early stage.
These paramilitary dudes look like they're letting Misaki into the building according to a plan. Spiky-kun is going to stumble into trouble again. Misfortune!
Exterior is a huge clone of Misaki's brain! They're keeping the two lobes separated. The plan was to give anyone the power of Mental Out. Misaki couldn't let that happen. The DNA Computer that made superpowers, was based on rumors of Exterior.
Misaki has to make digs at Mikoto. She's an "Amazon whose bust size got swallowed up by her fighting ability." Oops. It looks like Kihara figured out how to use Exterior right away. Ah. He used the techniques from Level Upper. He was behind that too.
Oh no. Last Order is going to get hurt. This custom virus is going to hurt all of them in shifting Mikoto to Level 6! Wow! Did not see that coming. Kihara made a big mistake in getting Touma involved and Accelerator mad. Here comes Mikoto. Kihara says some intriguing things. Who is Aleister's favorite? Tucked away in the shadow of his main plan? I hope we find out. And then, keikaku doori! That's a good setup for a midseason finale.
