Kotoko's final gambit in diffusing the urban legend of Steel Lady Nanase was that the real Karin Nanase found a big-boobed lookalike, faked her own death, and assumed the lookalike's identity.
Kotoko's telling of the last fantastical theory made sure Karin's lookalike had the necessary figure to confuse the police who didn't have her fingerprints on record. The body's face was bashed in, but they could have compared DNA samples with her sister to establish a familial bond. It doesn't matter to the urban legend nuts on the Steel Lady Nanase wiki site, though.
