Senior grad student Ena joins in the fun of Ayame and Shinya's love experiments. Ayame and Shinya try cooking with love.
Proof 2 - "Science-types Fell in Love, So They Tried Experiments."
Hmm.
Ena-senpai will make things more interesting in Rikei ga Koi. She’s an obsessive gamer, which many anime fans will identify with, but she also has a playful streak which brings a chaotic element to a dreary lab filled with computers. Plus, she fills out the short girl quota, since Ayame already took the tall, bodacious slot and Kotonoha has the normal girl role. Ena is not normal.Another thing Ena-senpai showed the audience is that the applied mathematics students are not good at designing experiments. The Rikei ga Koi department concentrates on data crunching, so it’s more like a support role for other science fields. The psychology and medical fields have already done many of the emotional and physiological experiments, so it should be easy for the Ayame and Shinya to pull up those studies with their search skills. Even food industry marketing research has better designed double-blind tests than what we saw with the cooking with love experiment in the second half.
It’s clear that Ayame and Shinya are only playing at running experiments with each other as a way of dating. The avenues of research for the information sciences are all about designing databases and finding better ways of accessing and organizing data. Running social experiments is just how these two justify spending time together. I’m looking forward to the Rikei ga Koi scene when the awkward couple gets over their social anxiety. Hopefully by then, they’ll have figured out some other shared interest to justify spending time together other than head pats and sitting in laps. Honestly though, they should be happy just doing those things anyway.
Heh.
Good. Confirmation from Kotonoha that she's in the Information and Computer Sciences Department. That's all about data collection, manipulation, and storage with applied mathematics for analysis, which we've seen the Rikei ga Koi crew already do.Ena-senpai is all about the mobage, gacha, and game events. She also has a great life goal in wanting to live off an annuity. I don't get why you need a white lab coat when you're just poking keyboard keys or writing on a whiteboard, but it's very important for SCIENCE!
Here we go. It's Shinya's turn to do all the doki-doki heart rate stuff. Ha, poor guy. He's shy. Can't blame the guy for being intimidated by the beautiful Ayame.
Hoho! Kotonoha has some skills! There's going to be a funny story about her martial arts training. I want to see that. Bondage play! Rikei ga Koi has everything! Green light! Shinya has "permission to touch" Ayame. Take your shot, cowboy! Hahaha! Ayame doesn't know where Shinya is supposed to touch her! These two are adorable. Kotonoha has seen enough.
Oh yes! Head pats! This would make Ayame's heart race more than Shinya's, I would expect. Shinya asks himself the right question about what makes Ayame's ponytail wag. So cute! Ayame wants more head pats.
Nice. Shinya's heart rate was going crazy. He's so tsun-tsun. Being attracted to someone like Ayame shouldn't be anything to be ashamed about. Ha. Look at Ayame's smug ponytail wagging.
We can see that Ena is the more experienced grad student in Rikei ga Koi when she points out all the experiment errors. Shinya should have been wall slapping Kotonoha yesterday for a control set of data.
No fair! Ena is too sexy and would make any man's heart race. Shinya is a disloyal dog! Kotonoha gets head pats! Ena is still teasing Shinya with her head pats. Ena is laughing at the results because she knows Shinya is a shy boy. Ayame is miffed, of course. She wanted to be the only one who make his heart race. Ena's work here is done, chaos and mayhem achieved, so back to sleep she goes.
If Shinya's heart rate was really 496 bpm, his heart would have exploded in the eye catch.
Oho. The small girl Ena likes her beer. Oh boy. Shinya is going to treat cooking like a chemistry experiment. It's interesting how we have three characters with emotionless voices already in Rikei ga Koi. Slow burning irritation in Shinya's voice counts as emotionless, right?
Okay, I laughed too hard at Shinya being mad about how much a "pinch of salt" is. Give him three significant figures! Kuma will explain significant figures, which every intro science lab in college covers. Every. Single. One.
There it is! Even Ayame knows cooking isn't a chemistry experiment. You need to dose it with affection! Ahem. Cooking with love makes the best flavor, according to Rikei ga Koi and every other anime. Every. Single. One.
Ayame has very specific thoughts about how to dose affection to adjust the flavor of a dish. Adjust the recipe or adjust the presentation. Geh. Shinya is the science-type who dismisses psychology. Try to bounce a photon off that attitude, professor, and tell me whether it exists or not.
Ayame brings the best examples for psychological spice. Kotonoha doesn't appreciate being her model, though. Besides, I'm sure there are some people out there who would love macho men to pour ketchup on their omelet rice. When does the glasses-wearing muscle man in the opening credits show up in Rikei ga Koi? He looks suspiciously like Kotonoha's math teacher from high school.
Blind taste testing is a valid procedure. Um, didn't Ayame forget to blindfold Shinya? She went the presentation route for adding affection, I presume. Oh. She just wants him to eat her cooking. Shinya is a smart man. Give her the answer she wants!
Aw. Those two were cooking for Kotonoha the entire time. I'm sure that dish is filled with a double dose of affection.
