10 Second Anime - Sword Art Online - Alicization - War of Underworld - Episode 9

The Dark Territory army follows Alice to the south. Vassago raids the Human Guardian formation on his own.

Episode 9 - "Sword and Fist"

Hmm.

The more I listen to Gabe Miller, the more I think SAO miscast his voice actor. The voice just doesn't fit that face and body type at all. Sure, the voice makes a great Gaara or Zeref, but it's discordant for a character more used to physical activity or more sane aggression instead of an unstable wizard. The voice should be deeper and fuller. It's become distracting to my viewing experience.

Meanwhile, the voice actor for Vassago captures exactly the type of aggravating dude-bro you hate in video games. Vassago the character just can't keep it in his pants, and that covers killing and demented abuse. I can't wait to see how his character's lack of self-control dooms the overall success of stealing Alice's fluctlight cube.

We've been seeing the NPC's of the Human Empire pretty much stomp all over the Dark Territory. Obviously, Quinella's first plan of only using Integrity Knights was a good one. It's too bad the Final Load Test didn't happen sooner for her, because those Integrity Knights weren't very stable in the long run. Things are going too well for the good guys, so it has to be time for the outside world to start messing things up. Asuna finally coming into the game (it's obviously Asuna because this story never does subtle or head fakes) looks like good news for Kirito, but it also means other people should be starting to log in. I'm sure that won't happen until the Kirito thinks he's won and there's some outside interference to necessitate bringing in the Scooby Gang. Yui and Asuna know how the endgame of these SEED worlds always go.

One question I had about Asuna joining the game is how Ronie recognized her as Stacia, the goddess everyone prays to when they say "System Call." Is Stacia based on Asuna? That's another kind of cliffhanger where the next episode becomes more interesting because of a world premise revelation instead of a plot development. I don't mind that kind of thing if you're going to use an apparent deus ex machina to save overmatched people from overwhelming forces.

Heh.

Bercouli figures Vixur is already dead because he doesn't "sense" him. Renly seems much more confident now. Bercouli muses about Synthesis being bad, but it still made good Knights like Renly.

The Fist Fighters are monks whose training makes them have sword resistance. Their Idea makes it so. The quiet Integrity Knight Sheyta will go. Enigmatic, Bercouli doesn't understand her, even after a hundred years.

This Fist Fighter chief is so red blooded! Dressed like a Muy Thai fighter too. That whole horde against one Sheyta. Sheyta is disappointed. I like her already. Yotte is going to get a beatdown… Look at that razor thin sword. And another dark skin cutie exits the show too soon.

She got a Cursed Object (can't really call it a Divine Object) from Dark Territory for her sword to go along with her curse of murderous impulses. Quinella felt that from her. She chose that Dark Territory flower for Sheyta to give her a weapon that would have the highest object authority over there. Those Fist Fighters won't stand a chance. Run away!

Vassago having his own kind of fun. Can't stop PK'ing even though he's still attacking NPC's. Miller figured out a good spot to put a rear guard if the Human Army really was going south.

Fist Fighter Chief got cut! He's a total Shouty McShouterson kind of fighter. I love how his personality is the polar opposite of Sheyta's and is the kind that gets angrier the more he talks to her. She'll let him call her Grandma! She gives away some of how her power works. She only slashes soft spots. Chief just noticed that she hasn't killed anyone. This makes him madder, of course. He's charging himself up like a Maori warrior.

Ha! Sheyta just coughed from that big hit! I thought her leg was going to break, but she's totally just okay. And she just said Fighter Chief became softer. Uh oh. She's starting to have fun. The Chief is called Champion. And the delaying tactic is over. I think Champion found a new crush.

Aw. Ronie is going to get it from Vassago. Well, she's going to give him a little trouble first. Oh, he wasn't alone.

Bercouli changes things up. The ambush won't happen, so retreat. Alice will meet Asuna, or whoever that is. Bercouli will handle rear guard delaying operation. Ronie calls the glowing lady Stacia, the one behind all the System Calls. So this is the cliffhanger. Vassago won't die, but we'll have to see how he gets out of being dropped in a hole.

Next time, the title says "Goddess of Creation Stacia." Lets get answers about this deus ex machina.
