Rindou and Eishi finish their two course meal first, creating a high bar for Souma and Erina to clear for their dishes.

Episode 10 - "How to Build a Specialty"

Hmm.

I love it when Souma plays the villain in Shokugeki no Soma. Even better, he started competing against Erina as hard as he's trying to beat Eishi and Rindou. He's maneuvered Erina into making a main course that has to be better than his appetizer which he made to seem like a main dish. The key word here is "seem." I hope to see Erina do Souma one better in his strategy and co-opt the other team's dishes to make them all appetizers for her main course. That's how I would slam a chess piece down for the checkmate.

The other theme of the Shokugeki no Soma episode, fitting the episode title, is what is Souma's specialty? What is even Erina's specialty? Souma made clear that his specialty is jazz fusion where he combines gourmet techniques with common diner sauces and ingredients to make even tastier dishes for the masses. We'll have to wait until next episode to see what Erina decides her specialty will be.

Rindou made a mushroom dish, but the tang in it came from ants. Still picking the exotic ingredients. Souma got mad.

Eishi made an aroma and flavor bomb, like everyone else does at these cooking contests. He used venison, as a way to poke Souma about their first cooking contest.

Why are Ikumi and the Polar Dorm bros in this foodgasm? Oh! The Nakiri stripping gift got them! Azami got the Gifting just by marrying into the family… Ryou guesses stuff like this must happen. Uh, no they don't.

Eishi said he used his "specialty" to come up with that venison dish, so Souma will have to do the same. Get ready for squid tentacles and peanut butter!

Did Souma never hear about Erina's God Tongue being part of Azami's plot before now? I guess he really never pays attention if someone's not cooking. Anyway, he's going to use that superweapon against the judges for his dish. There it is! Souma's villain smile!

What kind of appetizer is that? It's a caveman pâté loaf! Look. It's actually part of every dish Souma has made in Shokugeki no Soma, even the bacon wrapping from the very first episode.

Rindou got mad at Souma. It's like she's rooting for him to beat her. Souma made a flavor bomb too. So it begins. Bring on the stripping! Disappointed. The preview end card just used artwork from the manga to show Courage and Decora in their underwear. Their animated versions weren't as sexy. Souma needs someone else to name his dishes, though. "Countdown Caveman Meat Cheeky Youngster Style" doesn't really roll off the tongue.

Ha! Souma is doing two cooking contests. Erina will have to beat his dish so bad it only tastes like an appetizer so they can both beat Eishi and Rindou. Erina will need to make her specialty. But what is that? We'll have to find out next time.
