Ishtar appears to be that really nosy neighbor that Gilgamesh can't get rid of, but she isn't really harming anything in Uruk City either.
Gilgamesh wanted to test the Chaldean interlopers Mash and Fujimaru, but then Ishtar showed up, acting all tsun-tsun for Uruk, like it used to be her old boyfriend. Something about Ana, and how similar she looks to a certain snake goddess, made Ishtar postpone the hostilities.
Merlin wasn't the only heroic spirit Gilgamesh summoned. Taking care of the Demonic Beast invasion is Benkei, Ushiwakamaru, and Leonidas. Don't let Leonidas drink anything until his job's done. Oops, too late. Meanwhile, Gilgamesh made the newcomers do odd jobs around the city so they can complete enough side quests to get back to the main one. Uh, I mean, they need to build up a reputation to impress Gilgamesh about the importance of giving them the Holy Grail back.
