10 Second Anime - Toaru Kagaku no Accelerator - Episode 11

Accelerator and Esther fight against time to find Taowu's charm as Isaac's body grows larger and more powerful.

#11 - "(Perfect Golem) Perfect Body"

Hmm.

We're at the part of every one of Accelerator's alphabet soup arcs from Index III where things happen too fast and there's no explanation or motivation shown for the disposable main characters. Taowu's body made a picture of the Tree of Life, why? It's rainbow colored, but the rest of the local area has become gray, why? Isaac "ate" some DA guys and powered up, but he doesn't say what psychic abilities he got, or why he needed more, which implies Hirumi never had an ability. Is it clear? No, of course not. The real reason for all of these things is to make cool looking pictures on screen and hit emotional beats within the episode. Plot consistency and continuity do not even factor into things right before the season ends.

Something nice to say about the episode is that our villain expert is also a hero expert. It's pretty telling that the image Accelerator describes for a hero is someone not hesitating as he runs toward the person or thing he wants to save with an outstretched hand. *cough* Touma *cough* Even Hishigata called the "villain" out for knowing so much about acting like a hero.

Heh.

Har. Villain spouts nonsense, Accelerator responds, "hueeeaaah?"

Things finally got personal for Accelerator because he heard from Isaac that he was the one who created the 10,000 deaths necessary for him to make a perfect soul. Those girls' memories should be theirs and theirs alone. Of course, those memories are his too, but let's slide over that fact.

What does this promise to Hirumi mean to Esther now since she's dead? Does she need to put her body to rest? I have a feeling Taowu really didn't delete the Hirumi persona and Esther is going to put it into the Huotou body so they can be best friends and the producers can be lazy with keeping the same character specs for three different people.

That Tree of Life reminds me so much of the flying man symobol from Macross Zero.

The only intellectually interesting thing about the next episode will be how Accelerator gets that charm away from Isaac's tongue so Esther can stab it.

Did not Hirumi have a psychic ability?

Ugh. We're in the "Feed me, Seymour!" phase of this Little Shop of Horrors episode.

You know, just once I would like to see someone claiming to create a perfect body actually make someone beautiful instead of a wriggling mass of tentacles and biological goop. Just give it evil eyes and call it a day, okay? But noooo! It's always tentacle grape in anime.

Next time is the season finale and we better get a big dose of Last Order going all "Misaka Misaka" on Accelerator's exasperated face.
