10 Second Anime - Toaru Kagaku no Accelerator - Episode 9

Accelerator follows Misaka Sister's kidnappers to Hishigata's lair and an all-out brawl breaks out as the crazed researcher rushes to complete his plan.

#09 - "(Memory of Death) 10031 Deaths"

Hmm.

There were a couple of things that struck me from this episode, besides the fact that thankfully Accelerator is back on the screen. The first one was his relationship to the Misaka Sisters. Strangely enough, to him any way, they bear no grudge at all to his killing 10031 of their cloned Sisters. Maybe Last Order's sentiment permeates the whole network because they all know he saved their central node's life, but it's clear that they all think that he was not responsible for being caught up in an experiment and had to defend himself from their assassination attempts. For Accelerator, this is unacceptable, because they should hate him. He needs them to hate him so he can keep calling himself a villain. It's pretty hard to be a villain if nobody hates you and they've already forgiven you. Ultimately, it's about redemption, and that last hurdle to redemption is forgiving yourself. Accelerator is far from that place.

The second thing I noticed was how Hirumi had a pause in talking about future plans with Hishigata. It's one thing to know intellectually, like Esther does, that Hirumi's personality is only an imitation from the powerful Rosenthal soul inhabiting her. It's another thing to see proof. It also seemed as if the imitation had trouble figuring out what Big Bro Nerd wanted to hear. It looked like a chatbot trying to figure out the next response. Considering how Huotou talks with "Adonai," these pseudo-souls may have a lot in common with decision algorithms.

Heh.

Lots of action and way too much just-in-the-nick-of-time stuff going on here. These lazy writers are not impressing me and making me really wish that next season of Railgun would hurry up.

All I want to say is Accelerator should be happy to find a woman who wants to join his fight with a crowbar. That's a woman!

It's not clear to me why Hishigata thinks ten thousand recordings of failures will make his code better to amplify psychic abilities, but somebody told him that number mattered.

I like watching Accelerator fight, but there's never any tension. He's going to win — it's just a matter of how. This cyclone thing is very reminiscent of the wings he'll figure out how to make in Index III.

Some villain. He knocked away a whole building falling down on a little girl. We saw this over and over again in Index III too.

Accelerator is pretty smart, so I'm not surprised he figured out where he was in relation to the Big Bro Nerd Lair. Not fast enough though. Thanks, lazy writers!

It's time for Esther to cut a bitch. Yay... more just in the nick of time crap for Big Bro Nerd to get stabbed instead of Not-Hirumi. Big Bro Nerd is not good at keeping his promises.

Next time, does Not-Hirumi really care about Level 6? I don't think so.
