10 Second Anime - One Punch Man S2 - Episode 5

Monsters attack several cities at the same time as Metal Bat continues his fight against Garou. Saitama begins the Super Fight Tournament.

Episode 5 - "Martial Arts Tournament"

Hmm.

I'm liking this dichotomy of two concurrent stories between Saitama and Garou. The mirror image of the hero and the hero hunter relies on the premise that martial arts is specialized to fight against people, while the pro heroes are specialized to fight against monsters, plus use their skills to assist in rescue operations and other do-goodery. Garou himself comes to the conclusion that he'll have an easy time destroying the Hero Association, but his fight with Metal Bat proves that it may be more difficult because of how the super powers add in an unpredictability to his confrontations.

This is all to set up the inevitable encounter with Saitama where the author hopes that maybe, just maybe, he's planted a good enough seed of doubt that Saitama may need to fight seriously. Of course, he won't, but the fun is in the journey to get there. This journey is going to include a very fun bunch of wrinkles with the new Monster Association. They have a plan that involves the Hero Association too, and they appear to be recruiting! Garou may have to fight against two enemy associations before the gets to meet Saitama's one punch again.

Heh.

Multiple monster attacks. This isn't random. This is a coordinated operation.

Metal Knight enters the fray. For "weapons testing."

Metal Bat is having a tough time hitting Garou, but he gets stronger the more "pumped up" he gets, either by rage or getting hit. He's your basic shouting fighter adrenaline junkie.

Garou noticed the lack of martial arts training in Metal Bat and Tank-Top Master, but they were stronger than he thought.

Little Sister Zenko is formidable in her own way.

Garou is way deferential to kids. I hope we get a backstory on that. He may never become a real monster because he can't be cruel to children. More subliminal Japanese propaganda to raise the birth rate?

Ho. Metal Bat could have won right there if Zenko hadn't stepped in.

Zenko is the true winner against Garou.

What? A human hand just came out of that bird monster! Is it just a mascot costume?

Monster Association invitation - instant rejection.

Monsters pulling the plug on this operation - they just needed that executive hostage, kid or father didn't seem to matter. That flying peacock or whatever monster (phoenix?) appeared to be in charge, even giving orders to Elder Centipede.

Metal Knight's robot is going to follow Elder Centipede down into his lair.

Meanwhile, back at the Martial Arts Tournament, Sourface sure is nervous.

This lineup introduction is over the top. I love it!

Snek!

Zakkos has a punny name - means fodder or small fry. He says he's going to win and then propose. Does she know about this? Multiple death flags here.

Ha! Saitama's call sheet said not to go for his head. Makes him sound weak, but we know it's so his wig doesn't come off.

Suiryu is the playboy champion. He hasn't been back in a while, explaining why they've had other champions in the meantime.

Saitama says such cruel and cool hero lines. "Let him say what he wants. I didn't come here to argue." And, "if you're threatening to crush me, I'll look forward to it, though you don't look very strong..." One Punch! to Zakko's ego.

I like this brotherly banter between Bang and Bomb.

Bang wants to track down Garou before he becomes a monster, like a real monster where he starts saying stuff like "I hunted heroes so much, I became a hero hunting monster!"

Uh oh. Super S! Her whip turns enemies into her love slaves.

Team Fubuki arrives. They're a love slave army of sorts too.

Cougar fight, rrar!

Nice translation for Team Fubuki - The Blizzard Bunch. /sarc

Aw. Ring-Ring didn't get to do much in the ring against Lightning Max. The announcer says Ring-Ring didn't even put a scratch on Max, but Max implies he found her cute or something.

Martial artists view pro heroes as taking the easier job - that attitude seems to have influenced Garou's attitude too.

The seeding for the tournament bracket shows how weak they thought Max and Charanko were.

Saitama just one-punched Zakkos' pride again!

And they end the episode right before the match? Arrgh! Oh wait. It looks like there's lots of time before the end of the broadcast. Way to heighten that anticipation.

And One Punch! Or, One Slap!

These announcers are too cruel. Zakko's intended fiance never showed up. Good news, thinks Saitama.

Suiryu noticed how quick Saitama was and predicts he'll meet him in the finale.
