Riko's first round opponent is old friend and last year's semifinalist Nozomi. Tough luck for Riko who wanted to advance further than the first round.
Miyako-sensei is such a girly-girl! She was most excited about the upcoming tournament because she got to pick out the girls' new uniforms. Nagisa seemed to play just fine in the tighter fitting clothes, which needed a last minute embroidery addition because their high school name was left off of them. Miyako took a well-deserved nap for the first round.
The set piece for the episode was Riko's match against the more talented Nozomi. Things got more interesting when Riko figured out she needed to sap Nozomi's stamina, but that shift in strategy came too late to make up the points. A tired out Nozomi might be a factor in the plot later on.
Meanwhile, as Miyako continued to sleep, big drama was setting up. Kaoruko was playing more mind games with Ayano, right before their match when Uchika the badminton superstar mom was just about to watch. Ayano's loss to a sick Kaoruko years ago was when Uchika left, seemingly disappointed in her loser daughter. Seemingly...
