Tour Tidbit du Jour - 7/19/2018

Tour de France 2018 - 19/07/2018 - Etape 12 - Bourg-Saint-Maurice les Arcs / Alpe D'Huez (175.5 Km) - Geraint THOMAS (TEAM SKY) Vainqueur à L'Alpe d'Huez © ASO/Alex BROADWAY

Officially, Geraint Thomas is the first rider to win a mountain top finish at Alpe d'Huez wearing the yellow jersey, which he did at Stage 12 of the 2018 Tour. Historically, it was Lance Armstrong who did it first, when he won the Stage 16 Individual Time Trial of the 2004 Tour, en route to his 6th overall Tour victory. Of course, all of Armstrong's Tour results were vacated when he was convicted of doping during his participations of 1999 through 2005.
