Issei's crew find formidable foes in the Hero Faction of Chaos Brigade. When things look bad, the Oppai Dragon unlocks his Potential.
life.05 - "My Potential Released"
Hmm.
I wish these episode titles wouldn't refer to events that happen in the last two minutes of an episode, but I suppose a title like "Our Asses Get Kicked" would be no good either. Besides finding out that Issei's molesting crystal ball actually had a purpose in collecting the "feelings" of all the Kyoto oppai over the last couple of days, the important thing to note was Issei's conversation with the shadow loser seeking revenge.
That guy's motivation was remarkably similar to Issei's story. Never acknowledged and looked on suspiciously, Sacred Gear holders may be powerful, but they don't have social status. This is why their loyalty to their groups are very high. They're accepted and praised for their strange powers and the obsessions that enhance them by their leaders, and almost pathetically, they'll follow that leader no matter what his group's mission or philosophy is. Issei was lucky to fall in with the right crowd, but what if his life was saved by Cao Cao instead of Rias? The animators did a good job in showing Issei wrestle with this kind of identity problem behind his mask, with short pauses and hesitation before rejoining his team.
I think this conversation with the shadow guy will become important in the next episode as he talks with Rias about the "boobs only meant for him."
Heh.
Well, this Shadow guy was pretty weak after Issei did a couple of Boosts. Their conversation about following their leaders should be important for Issei as some kind of emotional power-up or maturing moment.
Aw. Rossweisse is still drunk and puking. But she's a fighter!
Xenovia is so proud. Look at her shiny new Durandal!
Aw, too bad. Looks like Yasaka is totally out of it. Magically drugged, in a way. It's going to be a while before we see that beautiful chest of hers again.
Ha. I have to laugh. This Hero Faction really is following the Chaos Brigade's cause. They're just doing it their way. Orphis wants to catch Big Red, but these guys want to use Yasaka in her 9-Tail form with Kyoto ley lines to drag him into this gray dimension they set up. The thing is, Orphis respects Big Red and wants to meet him in the Dimensional Gap. This Hero Faction is all humans who are very short-sighted about killing gods.
Hoho! Xenovia swings that big sword like Saber swings Excalibur! Whew! Like pounding a brick wall with a sledgehammer.
Ah. This new Durandal sword is alchemically combined with Excalibur. She's going to pet it, and love it, and call it Ex-Durandal.
Wait, that's it? The only nudity is Xenovia in the second eye catch? *kicks a small rock*
So, the point of this undressing before bathing is to let us know that Rias has cute new underwear she bought specifically for Issei. Trying hard, Akeno says. I suppose this will be important later.
All these Hero Faction guys that survived the Durandal, ahem, Ex-Durandal strike want to pair up accordingly. Siegfried takes on both Knights Kiba and Xenovia because he's got a lot of arms and lots of swords for those arms. Jeanne d'Arc wants to fight an angel in Irina. Heracles might have an advantage against a nauseous Valkyrie for Rossweisse.
Cao Cao is quite confident against Issei. He says he doesn't need to show his Balance Break against any of them. You know there's going to be a Round 2 where he will need to bust that out.
Saji is using his Snake Dragon King to suppress the mind controlled 9-Tail Fox. I'm not sure what the Fox is supposed to be doing with Kyoto to open a rift, but Yasaka looks like she's just flailing about.
Issei burned a Phoenix Tear. Cao Cao used one too. The question is how many of those things the Hero Faction has. Issei's crew only had two.
Welp, that doesn't look good. Everyone else was already taken out. At least they weren't killed.
Issei is defeated and not seen as a threat anymore, so obviously it's time for him to cry about not being his best when it matters (which is evidently false from the story so far, but he's in despair, so let him roll), and now's the time for his Potential to get unlocked.
Still no sign of this Belzard guy, but Elsha is easy on the eyes.
Just admit you're the Oppai Dragon and let the Potential summon the "boobs meant only for you." Zombie molesters. Neat.
.
And the whole big production summons... Rias! The boobs meant only for Issei in the cute new underwear she bought only for him. That is so DxD!
Geh.
Sadly, this was an even more action oriented episode than the previous one. The only NSFW image was Xenovia's second eye catch.
Apparently, it's going to be swimsuits for the whole season. I'm not complaining. Just pointing that out.
Next time, Pandemonium! At least this title describes the episode from its very beginning.
