Line.13 - "He Who Carries Guilt"
Heh.
New season, new opening and ending credit songs, and more overhead for blog posts...
From what I see in the opening credits, most of the scenes are flashbacks to things already covered in the first half of the season. I see one reference to Komari's origin story, which will be covered next week. I see another one with Midousuji spreading his locust wings against Imaizumi with a scary manic facial expression in the finale, probably of this 2nd stage. Imaizumi's superpower used to be going to the front of the race so he wouldn't have to hear all the muttering from other people, so I'm hoping something gets unleashed before the end of the season. And finally, there was a scene with Komari putting his glasses on, which we're right in the middle of. The only one that really matters is Midousuji and Imaizumi facing off against each other, which means there'll be interesting developments for how Sohoku caught back up to the front. Heh.
Somebody is carrying guilt. That's what the title says. Don't look at me. Look at Izumida, okay?
Izumida is pretty happy he got to see Kyoto Fushimi unleash a secret weapon. He says that makes his "revenge" worthwhile.
Doubashi calls Midousuji "that round-eyed guy." He's not wrong.
Midousuji is confident Komari will win the sprint, which sticks it to Hakogaku again, by having a first-year beat their ace sprinter. "Revenge Lashes-kun," he calls Izumida.
Izumida is getting serious again. Zipper goes up! Komari only thinks it's bad news because he can't see those fine muscles anymore...
Ah. Flashback time to explain what revenge means to Izumida. These kids worrying about a captain not being at the front of a race is understandable. It also shows lack of foresight, because captains have lieutenants, right? Anyway, angsty teenagers have to be full of angst.
Aw. Ashikiba cares so much about everybody. This is actually a pretty good scene where Izumida and Ashikiba have different ideas on what carrying guilt does to a leader. Izumida thinks it means losing face and not having moral authority anymore. Ashikiba thinks it means a leader has perspective and has come back even stronger. Hakogaku's motto for the ace is "never get beaten by the same guy twice." That's about as deep as Fukutomi's advice for every situation, "face forward." It's all good, and it's a great way to get some flashbacks in for Ashikiba as the new season starts.
See? Izumida got all preoccupied because he didn't ask Andy and Frank what he should do. Those flexing muscles say a lot by just flexing, eh?
Har. This exposition device of using the spectators for commentary always gets me. Izumida unleashes his spear (calm down fujoshi) and somebody says, "I think I saw some light!" Yeah, you did. Even Izumida can get hopped up on nakama fuel.
Oh. Midousuji got put some knowledge. The only revenge Izumida cares about is the team win at the end of the 3rd day. As he should. I guess Midousuji forgot how Shinkai wasn't broken up at all after he lost that sprint last year.
Ha! All Komari cares about is that he can't see Izumida's muscles anymore with him so far ahead.
I talked about this before, but it always gets me which English words the Japanese decide to appropriate. Cycling glasses get called "Eyewear." They already have "megane," but no. Eyewear. *shrug*
Komari has blue blockers... No, wait! Actual rose-colored glasses!
Hahaha. So that's where all those roses in fujoshi vision frames come from! They just fall from the sky to fill up that yaoi space!
Komari final form. Reverse Clark Kent.
And here comes a stream of bullshit about visual information affecting neuromuscular activity. Just be quiet.
Um, if Komari races ahead of Izumida, how does he look at his muscles? Isn't it dangerous if he does that just to look backwards to get a front view? There's a premise hole here.
Next time, Komari origin story. He looked so cute! And then Midousuji got his gross hooks into him. *shudder*
This ED is nice pairing with Hakogaku playing in a band to Sohoku's band for the first half of the run.
Ha! Izumida's vest has an A and an F for Andy and Frank pectorals.
Naruko is first up in the new end card. Are we going to have new ones each week? There's basically 13 guys we have to pay attention to, and I think we have 12 more episodes. It's doable.
Cycling Porn.
This week, it was all about Izumida's BH and Komari's Carrera. Ashikiba's Wilier Triestina snuck in for a night ride too. As for actual cycling related stuff, all I can do is ask you to look at Izumida's sprinter's hump.
Look at it! That is just so sweet. If you want to be aero, efficient, and strong in your wind up before releasing your sprint, get your position like that. It's beautiful.
