I got what I wanted in this Season Finale - a satisfying, believable happy ending for Chris and Nina.
The battle against Bahamut quickly coalesced into the Angels and Demons protecting the city while King Charioce and Nina used the ancient weapon against the Primordial Evil.
In a satisfying nod to the first series and Favaro's regrets in losing Amira while defeating Bahamut, Nina gave us her derp face and received a message from our first kickass heroine.
The resolution showed that there were costs, dear ones even, to achieve victory against the resurrected dragon. El was really dead, Kaisar really died, and Nina lost her voice, much like Charioce lost sight in one eye the first time he fired that weapon.
Favaro was broken out of prison, so it was time for him to get back to adventuring. After seeing the dragon claw he used to kill Bahamut the first time, plus hearing Amira's message for him, he knew he would be called upon again to face Bahamut. But today is not that day.
Chris lost sight in his other eye, so now he is totally blind. But he doesn't need to see or hear Nina's voice when they can just hold hands and dance. Beautiful ending.
The true love story features in the final end card, but the epilogue brought us back to the mood of the first series with its Spanish horns and Mediterranean plains landscape. Favaro is off racing with his horse and Kaisar got Rocky back for his hand as Rita's newest zombie. As long as Kaisar is around to say the "Favaroooo!", all is right in the world of Bahamut.
