Finds from the Grind - Reservoir Tour


I checked out the reservoirs in San Gabriel Canyon on May 27th. Still full from the record Winter rain. I hadn't been up around here yet to see what the water level was like after it rained for two straight months in January and February. The year before, both San Gabriel and Morris Reservoirs were down near the bottom of their respective dams, but here you can see that they have to manage the depth as the level is right up against the emergency spillway. This is good news for California, which ended its drought because of those heavy rains. If only we had built more reservoirs during those dry years to catch this cycle of drought and flood that is native to most of the desert of Southern California...
