10 Second Anime - Amanchu! - Episode 7

The rainy season causes restlessness. The kids learn important lessons playing a game.

Episode 7 - "The Story of the End of Rain"

"The Story of the Beginning of Summer"

Heh.

Everybody hates the rainy season. It's supposed to be Summer, the kids are wearing their more comfortable Summer uniforms, but the rain just won't stop. This leads to a listless restlessness and other problems.

I don't think Hikari can do listlessness...

The Ninomiya twins have unruly hair by default, which is why even Makoto wears hairpins, but the humidity makes their hair even crazier. Unfortunately for Makoto, it also makes Ai crazier and she goes overboard with messing with his hair. Everyone has their reasons for the rainy season to be over soon.

Futaba is diligent with her swimming lessons and the rain doesn't affect the indoor pool, but it does affect how she has to bundle up on her moped.

A fun thing for this episode was how it was narrated by Ms. Katori. All the rainy season problems were observed from her perspective. A nice note too was the how the musical score had an unserious arrangement, letting the audience expect unserious problems.

Then the music changed to adventure mode when Ms. Katori started following Hikari. She suspected Hikari was missing her friend because Futaba had to go to her swimming lessons and the Diving Club couldn't hold any activities with all the rain. Ms. Katori was curious where Hikari would go in such a state.

Cha the cat is still wearing his diapers. Is he actually owned by Katori? He seems to be awfully familiar with her car and with her in general.

How Katori just decided to stalk Hikari seemed very similar to Hikari's personality, which we saw earlier when they raced to school. Maybe that's why Cha just chose her as a new friend on the first day of school.

Busted!

I'm telling you, this show isn't about muppet faces. It's about eyelashes.

That's a huge group of blooming hydrangeas!

And that was it. Show's over. Time to take the train back.

Katori understandably wondered if that was the only thing Hikari wanted to see on her train trip. It was!

Hikari explained that because Futaba was doing something positive, if she moped around doing something negative, their actions would cancel out. So it was up to her to find something positive to do too, even if it was for something so fleeting.

She had another reason too. Hikari claimed her brain has limited memory capacity, so she would rather just fill it with happy things. I think Katori wants to agree with Hikari about her memory...

The second of the two mini episodes had a sense of weather karma to it. Everyone wanted Summer to really begin, but when it did, it brought the heat. Not only that, the Dive Pool was under maintenance during the midterm week, so the kids couldn't even cool off doing club activities.

What was funny about this midterm week was that all club activities were suspended until after their exams, so they shouldn't be using the pool anyway. So, what did the kids do?

They still goofed off! They're kids! What do you expect them to do? Feeling the touch of the sun... crack open those books already.

Katori saw this and made them play the Japanese version of Red Light Green Light.

Teko appeared to be a genius at this game by always coming in last. Perhaps it fits her personality where she never stood out or made an impression on people. Which is ludicrous because she's such a beautiful girl, but anyway, she got under the skin of Ane-chan-senpai.

Supposedly, this game playing was supposed to be a way for the kids to learn problem solving, but I think Katori just wanted to watch something fun because she couldn't do any club activities either.

Futaba, dodging prodigy!

The kicker to the whole scene was how Katori jumped in to play too after saying a whole bunch of wise cool things to her colleague.

With age comes experience. And also knowing how to cheat, er, find ways to win within the stretched boundaries of the rules. I guess.

Katori, the wily veteran got her victory by throwing her shoes at the kids she couldn't reach.

It's a fun dichotomy where the narrator of lessons learned during games also just wants to play games because they're fun. Katori continues to live by the words of the big speech she made on the first day of school. "Fun is the most! Fun is justice! And fun is without limits!"

Katori's addendum is that winning is fun too.
