Araragi and Hanekawa visit Sodachi and learn of her difficult family circumstances. She asks them to solve a personal mystery.
"Sodachi Lost"
Hmm.
The circumstances of Sodachi's mother disappearing from a garbage strewn locked room definitely smacks of the obvious detective story, which will probably be the way Ougi works her way back into the thick of things. However, the bigger mystery to me is Araragi's faulty memory. Even Nadeko, who is a friend of Araragi's little sister Tsukihi, remembered Sodachi staying at their house for a little while. How could young Araragi forget Sodachi so completely before he started going to her house for math lessons and then in the first year of high school? This is the question that needs answering and I think Ougi is where we'll find that answer.
An inkling of speculation for why Araragi may not have remembered Sodachi was how unstable she appeared. Her tone of voice and mannerisms varied greatly during her conversation with him and Hanekawa. Perhaps there is something there.
Heh.
Araragi and Hanekawa still make a great team. From distracting Sodachi so Araragi could heal her bruise with his vampire blood to Hanekawa's encouragement of Araragi after his speech on the importance of practicing happiness, it was just a joy to see them working together again.
Of course, seeing the cat-like Hanekawa in action is fun too. The best part was after she caught the tea cup that she cleared all the dishes in Sodachi's reach in case she wanted to throw something at Araragi again. Given this is Araragi, of course that was going to happen.
Did Araragi have a growth spurt? His sisters seem a little bigger than he does here.
He never did lose that interest in blimps. I wonder if it was the inspiration for his love of Hanekawa's breasts...
All the seemingly supernatural mysteries have been solved in mundane ways so far, except for the locked classroom in the first episode. That whole interlude appeared to be foreshadowing for the main mystery of Sodachi's missing mother. If there is another aberration that Araragi needs to resolve, I wonder what the spirit animal is going to be. I haven't seen any clues yet, so that's another thing I'll be looking out for.
