Koufuku Graffiti - Episode 4
Ryou has to spend a weekend without her friends and takes a nostalgic trip to the library instead.
Heh.
Without Kirin and Shiina, could Ryou carry all the cute girls doing cute things? With a whole bunch of help from baby Ryou flashbacks, oh yes she could!
The librarian had a good moment confirming Ryou's sense of wonderment was still there.
Kirin gave Ryou up for 3 star Chinese food. Okay, she may not be cheap, but she still has a price.
Nice way to play for laughs the revelation that Shiina is weak against rain.
I liked how easily the librarian and the convenience store clerk so quickly recognized Ryou. She must have been a precious child.
I've never wanted to be a cream puff so much in my life...
Ryou easily handled the food porn portions of the show by herself. And she still held dishes up to the camera like last week.
Even convenience store food can taste good if it's seasoned with good memories.
Baby Ryou and the old clerk pretty much stole the show.
Kirin sure is lucky. She gets 3 star Chinese food one week and the next week she gets homemade pot stickers.
Kirin's dad puts up with a lot and then he got his shrimp stolen.
Rainy days can be kind of boring if you're a homebody but you don't have anybody to do things for. Ryou just needs to roll with it.
Obviously, Kirin's first priority is good food. Friendship is a close second.
Ryou may be old-fashioned, but she's just like every other modern girl with her phone. Texting, mailing pictures and waiting for replies.
Teruterubouzu (てるてる坊主)? More like terror terror bouzu, amirite?
Life's little victories.
Ryou guessed correctly that Kirin wanted pot stickers next week and Kirin texted her saying the exact same thing. Aw, they're getting to be really close friends, not just cousins.
Eh!?
Ryou's grandma checked out cookbooks for beginners from the library? But she wasn't a bad cook...
Aunt Akira says, oho, she was a terrible cook when they were growing up. What a special feeling to find out your grandma learned how to cook just for you. Isn't that nice, Ryou?
Hmm.
It's always a bittersweet nostalgic feeling when you find out something about your relatives from other people and they're not there anymore to hear the details firsthand. Thankfully, Ryou found out something nice about her grandma and how she became a good cook. Not only that, she altered library book recipes just to fit Ryou's tastes. Now tie that feeling with how Ryou is trying to figure out what kind of dishes Kirin and Shiina might want and it's now a way that she's become closer to her late grandma. Nice, bittersweet, nostalgic. That's some good healing slice of life anime right there.
