Koufuku Graffiti - Episode 2
Kirin and Ryou learn more about each other as close family during a cherry blossom viewing festival.
Heh.
This was pure cute girls doing cute things slice of life anime. I loved it!
Ryou's downstairs neighbor Yuki makes another cameo, this time playing peek-a-boo with Kirin.
It appears that Ryou only had a problem with making dinner taste good because she was cooking lunch for her friends at school.
Kirin captured that disappointed feeling that your new best friend is still better friends with people she's known longer. You don't solve that feeling by blabbing the most embarrassing things you have found out so far to the other friend.
Shiina, Ryou's friend from art school, seemed to pick up what was going on. She left with a good impression.
This show apparently did not line up that lucrative Asahi Beer product placement agreement.
Hey, I heard that this show was a SHAFT production.
Not seeing it...
Speaking of SHAFT, I think we know where Mayoi's soul went when she had to leave this plane of existence.
Well, Kirin isn't making any weird mispronunciations of Ryou's name, but she's got the backpack working right.
Ryou, Kirin and Akira are supposed to be cousins. I can see the family resemblance for at least two of them.
This is a cute girls doing cute things anime, so they made sure Kirin did some cute things.
Speaking of cute, the chibi forms of the girls during the preview that's not much of a preview are certainly that.
I wonder if each new girl we're introduced to will show up here.
Geh.
In addition to slice of life, this is a food porn show. SHAFT decides to double down on that.
Um, yeah...
Hmm.
I liked how this episode explored the notion of family and how it differs from friendship. Ryou and Kirin are cousins, but because they live so far away from each other, they don't know their personalities. Ryou has a much calmer outlook on life than Kirin, so she doesn't feel that pressure to get to know everything about Kirin right away. We know from how Kirin brings everything with her, she likes to be prepared, so not knowing the little things about Ryou makes her feel like she's not doing a good enough job of getting to know her. It's a fun character study as the girls get to know each others' quirks, like Kirin being nervous around adult strangers or Ryou being seriously self absorbed during class.
I'm waiting for the event when Ryou starts cooking dinner for her downstairs neighbor everyday so she can have good tasting food all week instead of just the two nights she shares with Kirin. Maybe we'll meet those two other girls at school first? Whatever happens next, I'm ready for more food porn.
