Kantai Collection - Episode 3
A surprise attack mission for the torpedo squadron doesn't go as planned. Although successful, the fleet loses one of their ships.
Heh.
Reverse death flag? That was pretty good. I felt they were pouring it on pretty thick with Mutsuki waiting to tell her sister ship Kisaragi something after the mission was over, but then to have Kisaragi trigger the flag instead was an interesting turn of events. Oh, I'm sure she'll be back as an Abyssal Fleet member and there'll be all the angst that entails.
Akagi's point about being open with your feelings with your fleet mates was well taken. They are military personnel after all in a time of war, so any chance you have to tell your friends your feelings of friendship, gratitude, whatever, is a chance you need to take to live without regrets.
The eye catch wants you to focus on the Secretary Ships Nagato and Mutsu.
I'm focusing. I'm focusing!
We got a quick glance at the chibi pilots of the planes the ship girls can launch in the first episode. Even the cruisers with recon aircraft have them.
Those enemy airplanes had some nice teeth. They must have a good dental plan for their service members.
The music during the battle scenes reminded me of the Indiana Jones music. It made it really feel like we were in World War II times.
All the girls were super nice to Fubuki on her first real combat mission. They kept giving her stuff to help her out, but Atago had to present her gift in her own special way.

Takao, her sister ship, claims Atago put something special, and embarrassing, in the protection charm she gave Fubuki. I can only wonder...
Geh.
These Secretary Ships appear to be very well, ah, equipped.
Quite the racks of bombshells...
Hmm.
It looks like we finally got our overarching plot for the season. The sinking of Kisaragi will add some pathos to Mutsuki's character, as well as dramatic tension over their reunion. I'm assuming she's going to come back as an enemy before being turned back into the nice big sister type we've known so far.
I feel like there will be a lighthearted healing plot next episode to try to console Mutsuki, with some revelatory hints somewhere in there to show what the enemy fleet is up to. There's a rhythm to these cute girls doing cute things anime, even if the cute thing is shooting miniature airplanes at bullseyes.
