Amagi Brilliant Park - Episode 5
The park has run out of money and Seiya searches a cave for a legendary treasure. He and his party find the unexpected and another treasure trove of sorts.
Heh.
Ashe-sama gets right to point: That 30 yen promotion sure worked out great, huh? The advertising and promotion didn't increase daily attendance very much. If your numbers are so low that a 15% increase only means 30 people, you need to do something else. What the heck was Isuzu trying to draw? Did she mean "special effects?" Was that supposed to be a dude sitting at a computer station with a keyboard and wired mouse? Am I taking crazy pills?
Isuzu is still showing her socially awkward side. Even if she knows how to make emoji, she's using the wrong ones in her texts. Unless she actually meant those... That puts a different spin on things.
Oh hey, Seiya actually has a magic ability. Nice way to remind the audience by beating a dragon in a riddle game by reading his mind.
Those Digger mole type people sure are accommodating. They spent part of their fortune by paying for their freeloader Dornell's otaku media hobby for ten years. At least Dornell had good taste: his collection was able to make payroll for the next month after they auctioned it.
Way to remind the Japanese that they still haven't recovered from their real estate bubble bursting from 20 years ago.
I think Sylphy's airheadedness is contagious.
Sylphy actually yells out the sledding categories for international competition: Skeleton, Luge, Bobsled.
Isuzu doesn't know much about making payroll, emoji, or drawing, but if you need something blasted with a musket, she knows what to do about that.
In fact, I don't think Moffle, Tiramie, or Macaron know much about entertaining guests, but they do know about punching, pachinko, drinking, cabaret clubs, and breaking out the cans of whoop ass.
Aw. That dragon was only trying to do his job. His job that saw only two groups walk through his attraction in 10 years. Common sense must be different among the magical beings.
Macaron asked a good question about Dornell not disappearing if he hasn't been seen in 10 years. Becoming a famous female game idol in a MMORPG seems to have done the job in keeping his popularity up. I wonder how that prestige system actually works. Probably best not to think about it too hard since this is magic we're talking about.
Hmm.
Okay, it's obvious that the next episode is going to deal with magic beans. Will there be a giant and a beanstalk too?I'm more interested in how the Elemental Fairies wanted to talk about a new stage show and how Seiya was eyeing that big empty stadium they have. Add in a bunch of new efficient and cheap construction labor with the mole people and a huge flying fire generating spectacle in the dragon, and Seiya just might come up with a way to get thousands of people coming to the park every day.
Latifa seemed sad or regretful in meeting the mole people, or perhaps that came from finding out how dire their finances actually were. I wonder if most of the magic beings are actually refugees that Latifa's magic nation has taken in. We did hear that other theme parks are run by magic beings too. I doubt we'll see this fleshed out in the course of this story, but just having a deeper backstory hinted at adds a bit more depth to why these magical creatures are in our world.
I'm hoping that the moles can fix up all the attractions, which should make the park more attractive to the people coming in, but I think they're going to be too busy with the big stadium project. Maybe we'll finally get to see the Elemental Fairies put on a whole show. My idol musical numbers quotient is running low this season compared to the Summer season. I want to see some waving glow sticks!
