This was the end of my last form and climbing block, and the last week of riding for the year. The last ride was a leg breaker too: Up to Chantry Flat, up to Sierra Madre Dam, up Altadena, up Lake, and up Chaney Trl. Chaney Trl defeated me again, on that same 30% grade ramp. This time I didn't blow up, but I had to put a foot down, because I just didn't have the power to turn over the pedal while sitting down. I didn't want to zigzag either up this thing, so I had to walk 10 feet up to its top. Mind you, it goes from a 30% grade to an 8% grade "plateau" at that point. I have a goal for next year now. Get up that thing without blowing up and without stepping down. It could also have been my legs being blasted by Chantry, Woodland, Grandview, Altadena, and Lake...




The end of this year brought me 3950 miles on 219 rides. I gained 4 pounds over last year. I'm also 2% faster on all terrain from my 2010 benchmarks. I'll figure out some interesting numbers and put those in a future post. I have a backload of Finds from the Grind video to edit, so look for those too.

But now, until next year, it's time to recover, decondition, eat less and drink more.
