Ahahaha! They stuck Ange in a little desk with grammar school girls. Okay, not for very long before sticking her in a flight group, but still. Well played, well played.

Not so good for Coco. Obviously being raised on the island of Arzenal makes her totally ignorant of a how a Norma would be treated in a mana-based society.

Ange is a bitch! You don't insult the gift of another girl's pudding. Sacrilege!

The little red head girl Vivian is a laugh riot. She asks the right questions. "But you can't use Mana, right?" Or, in response to another girl saying they need to smack the delusion out of ugly bitches like Ange, she says, "But Ange isn't ugly." Oh, that's good stuff right there. The faces the girls made when Ange said she can't use Mana at the island because the "Light of Mana doesn't reach this far," were priceless.

Of course, the only mana user on the island has to be the authoritative type with red glasses.

The headphones are alright, but to make sure those suits look like mecha inspired neko cosplay, I'll need some pointy stubby antenna on the headpiece.

Hah! This first thing Ange does when she gets outside is to try to run back to the Empire. She is still in big denial about her mother being dead, her father being imprisoned for treason, and most of all, she is a Norma who is not welcome there.

Ahem.

Hey, those flying lacrosse skills aren't so bad to have after all. It's like bulls-eyeing womp rats in a T-16 back home. Uh, wait, I'm getting my fish out of water heroes mixed up.

Geh.

The loveless forced intimacy has all the mood setting I'd expect from prison "relationships." Zola knows she's top dog, and she flaunts it.

The violence from the Dragons is shocking and bloody. Not disappointed on that score either.

Hmm.

Earning money from missions to buy stuff from the base store is a good touch. Seeing how Zola's quarters look like a love hotel room, we can only conclude she is very good at killing Dragons for bonus pay.

The medical advances in this world seem pretty good at keeping people alive after a traumatic injury, but not so far advanced that they still have to use prosthetics. Zola's eye popping out after Ange hit her was great.

We've got some heavy foreshadowing with the ring Ange's mother gave her and how the Commander keeps looking at it when she thinks about how Ange becoming a good pilot in the fight against the Dragons.

See? This is why you don't insult the pudding. Coco gets cut in half while pining for a magical society that would never accept her, or you either. I expect Ange will eat a big dose of reality and accept her situation after her first battle with the Dragons. I'm looking forward to the next installment of beautiful girls being ugly to each other.
