Big climbing week, and I totally blasted my legs on Saturday. 37 miles, 4200 feet, and I had never felt the tops of my knees burn from exertion before. That was after I had climbed up to Chantry, then up Altadena, and then up Lake. On the descent of Loma Alta, I felt this fatigue pain in both knees, and thought, "Well, Inverness is going to fun..." Lots of steep stuff, with some long descents that didn't let me pedal my legs all that much after a hard effort.
I got lucky on the Chantry descent by getting in front of a car out of the parking lot, and not getting behind any other cars on the way down. As for fitness progress, again no new records because of environmental conditions, but lots of times near the peak. I think next week will have to be a spinning week, just to get some other muscle groups reacquainted with the pedal stroke.
