Nanako wants to know why they were chosen as locodols. Yukari gets a fever at an event. She remembers first meeting Nanako and why it was fate they became the Nagarekawa Girls.

Oh, Nanako. Never ask for the full reason why you got any job. The harsh truth may be harsher than you're prepared for. Like being the safe choice includes not being very feminine...

I thought I was watching Rail Wars! for a couple of seconds there. Especially when Uogokoro-kun said that he wanted to protect everyone's smiles and safety.

It takes a strong fever to knock Yukari down. Thankfully Uogokoro-kun is a ゆるキャラ (yurukyara), so he's nice and soft in the head. Yui didn't escape unscathed, however.

With Yukari's health compromised, the calm oujo-sama exterior no longer can hide her true self: selfish airhead megane.


I did like how Yukari kept the secret of why she thinks working with Nanako was fate, and how the flashback showed their first meeting. I wonder if Yui was the next in line after Yukari got fired from being the animal character at that department store handing out balloons. Also, the little story explains why Yukari was so happy to see Nanako at their first event together. It was like seeing an old friend again for Yukari, even though Nanako never knew who was inside the dog costume.

As long as we're talking about cliches like protecting smiles, we need to reference the red string of fate too.

Oh, so that explains a lot of things: Yukari's influential grandfather is the former mayor. I'd like to know who the current mayor is.

Yukari and Nanako centered story needs Yukari and Nanako screen wipes.

Mirai and Yui seem to have a system working, but putting that extra layer of station master costume must have made things even warmer than usual. Still, Yui can jump, just no backflips.

Hmm.

What a neat framed story. From the enigmatic pronouncement by Yukari that it was fate that brought her and Nanako together, we got a flashback to the Nagarekawa Girls' origins during a fevered dream, as we saw the current locodol unit working an event. Even the comedic spark to the whole question of why Nanako and Yukari were chosen (the dark rumor of city hall turning a girl school into an idol training ground) was something ridiculous, but enough to set Nanako panicking. A quintessential cute-girls-do-cute-things slice of life episode.
