Full title "Futsū no Joshikōsei ga Locodol Yattemita," (Normal High School Girls Tried Being Local Idols) is a gag comedy about exactly that. Follow Nanako and Yukari as they promote civic events around their city.

Heh.

It's summertime, and you want to watch cute girls doing cute things? Get you some Locodol!

20 dollar swimsuit gives you 20 bucks worth of material? I don't see the problem here...

The Japanese take their local civics seriously. I never learned my hometown's anthem. I don't even know if we have an official song... These kids know the Nagarekawa song by heart already!



Nanako's uncle is tricky. He just fooled her into becoming an idol for 20 bucks. Still, Nana may fall down a lot, but she's crafty too. "When do I get paid?" is the second question she asks about the vague job offer to "help out" at an event.

And hilarity ensues.



The uncle sure is passionate about demographics and economics. And he knows how to motivate Nanako by appealing to her sense of duty.

I think "Nyanyako" has a future in show business! Of course, she has to be the gag meister in her duo with Yukari. She has "style" as the Japanese say, which actually translates to "she's stacked!"

One fun thing this show does is use fan service shots as screen wipes.



I'll be looking for those each episode.

What if you took Haruka from Minami-ke and tried to make her a local idol?



Question answered! She may look respectable, but I think she's hiding a clingy needy side that Nanako is about to assuage. "Call me Yukarin," she requested. Nanako: "I've decided to call you Yukari-san." The comedic timing in this show is top notch.

Bonus points for themed eye catches.



Their first event was a grand opening for the new public indoor pool. Gotta have water fairies give their blessing.

Hmm.

Deeper thoughts? Of course not. This is not some cute girls doing cute things anime crossed with a romantic comedy or an action drama. This is cute girls doing cute things with a gag comedy overlay. Look for funny references to the whole idol culture, mixed with low budget cable access jokes. I'm ready to laugh with a weekly dose of fua-fua.
