Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei - Episode 13
Tatsuya helps the underclassmen girls win their events. The Hong Kong gang adapts their plans. Another school and Morisaki resent a certain engineer's efforts.
Heh.
I guess even after a bunch of "Weeds" saved a whole 'nuther bunch of "Blooms'" bacon during a terrorist attack, it doesn't take away the prejudice. It's not Tatsuya's fault the underclassmen boys just suck at magic.I am shocked, shocked that there would be gambling on amateur
Although, I don't think Vegas bookies would throw exploding SUV's at school buses or sabotage equipment and sports venues to make sure their spreads are covered. That's cuz I have faith in humanity!
Mayumi gets so happy she can't keep her hands off Tatsuya.
Okay, she's slapping the backs of the young girls who won the shooting event too. It's only her specialty. She's got a right to be excited about the first-year girls sweeping the podium.
I didn't notice a difference in how Shizuku's spell looked, but I'm sure the difference lay in the CAD she was using. Even the 3rd Magic Specialty School managers noticed the difference.
These kids at magic academies sure do like having conference meetings. It's either that, or have meetings in their main tent that looks like a field marshal's forward base of operations. There are no civilians at any of these schools...
No matter the age or the reason, little girls like to play dress-up. I'm with Tatsuya: letting the players wear anything they want has totally gotten out of hand.
Our main BAMF may be getting a lot of attention behind the scenes for his engineering skills, but little sister BAMF gets to be flashy. Using offense and defense at the same time, especially when her default magic is cold-based, is just not fair. Fatality! Total devastation!
Nice deflection from Tatsuya on getting credit for the Air Mine spell Shizuku used. It would be embarrassing for the guy who came up with the spell not to be able to use it.
Geh.
Oh, Honoka. You're not going to be able to hide any of your gifts dressed like that! That was nice to see a girl who's never won anything do so well with just the right direction and strategy. As if her crush on Tatsuya couldn't get any bigger after this. Still, that's pretty sneaky to blind your opponents like that, but we saw in one of Mari's earlier matches a girl make a big splash at the gun too. Tatsuya is ruthless when it comes to victory.
I also liked the little aside where Honoka remembered first seeing Tatsuya and remembered him because his activation sequence was so efficient. Pretty, she called it. Simple like a crystal. Miyuki better watch out. Onii-sama is acquiring a lot of potential rivals to you for his attention.
Hmm.
I wasn't expecting the Hong Kong gang to be mainly interested in these Magic Games just for betting on the 3rd Magic School to win the overall. From the way the kids were talking in the conference room, they seemed as surprised as the gang that 1st School's underclass girls were doing so well. We don't know yet if there is an open relationship between these two parties, but at the very least they're both now aware of 1st School's sudden surge in engineering ability. With Tatsuya not taking credit for a new spell entering the Magical Index, and Miyuki's sadness over it, we get a few more hints at what the Shiba siblings are going through within their family situation. We're not sure what the terms of Tatsuya being only a bodyguard for Miyuki are, such as renouncing any titles or assets that would belong to the Yotsuba clan, but whatever they are, his identity has to be hidden.
The 3rd School guys worrying about Tatsuya using generalized CAD's instead of the specialized ones most of the players are using makes me think of the difference between x86 and ARM architecture for PC's and mobile devices. Sure, you could lug a laptop around to make a phone call, but why would you? Well, if you need its processing power to do something else, and you can write specialized software on the fly, you could do all sorts of things. Right, Mr. Silver?
With the Course 1 boys getting desperate for a win (because who wants Tatsuya to keep getting attention from their own Course 1 girls?), and the Hong Kong gang also getting desperate for their lives if all their bets go south, some bad mojo is developing for the Monolith Code event. I think Tatsuya and Mikihiko are going to be involved in whatever happens.
