A whole lot of BAMF'ing going on against Blanche terrorists. Mibu and Kirihara get together?

Erika sure does like to tease her friends. She's easily my favorite character. Azusa runs a close second, though.

The leader of this Japanese branch continues the hypocrisy of using magic when his own foot soldiers can't. Tatsuya cares not for his parlor tricks.

Geh.

Okay, we know Tatsuya is a BAMF, but just shrugging off the antinite cast-jamming and shooting people with his gun? That's Indiana Jones kind of BAMF.

At least the BAMF got spread around. Kirihara seemed awfully mad at the guy who hypnotized false memories into Mibu.

I remember Kirihara complaining about Mibu's kendo getting dulled, and claiming that's why he was so angry at the Blanche dudes for clouding her vision, or something like that. But, come on. We know why he was mad.

He wanted to protect her smile... Wait, it'll come to me... They were messing with HIS WOMAN! Ahem. Okay, so his admiration turned into softer feelings when he visited her everyday in the hospital.

Hmm.

This 7 episode arc was a good introduction to the Mahouka-verse, and we see that our main character BAMF has a lot of secrets which make the story fun as those mysteries reveal themselves. The main takeaway is that in this magical world, nations are in a cold war, and there are certain axes and alliances who will use proxy groups and soldiers to wage this cold war. Just like our Cold War.

The other takeaway is that the ruling class of Japan is also based on magic power, and there are factions striving with each other, and outside groups struggling against them, which can also be exploited. In the middle of all this are the Shiba siblings, an assumed name, who are separating themselves from one of the ruling elite families. This part of the main story will also be fun to see as their current school competes against other magic schools in a prestigious competition. We know from a quick aside from the Yotsuba clan head that Tatsuya is acting as a guardian for Miyuki, which seems to suggest that they are not actually brother and sister, but more like cousins. Those incest jokes they like to make will have a racier edge to them as we find out more about the Shiba siblings' circumstances.

It looks like one of Tatsuya's roles is to watch over Miyuki's strong magic, and make sure she doesn't overdo it. I wonder if this is one of the reasons they broke away from the main clan.

More BAMF'ing to come in the next arc as we see magic schools compete with each other, which means new characters, and more opportunities for Tatsuya trolling. We had some nice moments with Kirihara and Erika when Mibu was being discharged, but I want MOAR. Since we'll be in an introductory phase for a couple of episodes, I'm sure I'll be satisfied.
