Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei - Episode 2

Miyuki joins the student council because of her test scores. Tatsuya joins the disciplinary committee because of his "skills." The VP Hattori gets a good demonstration of those skills.

Heh.

President Mayumi sure is a live wire, giving funny nicknames to her council members.

And did Mari the Disciplinary Committee Chairman give us a dat ass moment? She must get lots of exercise making sure magic using students don't get out of hand.

Trolling big brother is trolling.

Hee! Look who's all embarrassed over his little incest joke. And look who's the most disappointed! Little Azusa and Miyuki. Interesting that they didn't show President Mayumi all flustered. Probably because she was trying to stifle a laugh.

I keep wanting to call the Vice President Hattori, Hachiken, since it's the same voice actor from Silver Spoon.

Geh.

BAMF brother gets his BAMF on. The duel he has with Hattori is over faster than I could type geh. Tatsuya must have figured it was better to show some of what he can do otherwise Miyuki might get teased for being overprotective of her less talented brother. Showing is better than telling, because people can make up their own stories without Tatsuya having to acknowledge how much he can actually do.

Hmm.

Hattori objected to Mari inviting Tatsuya to join the Disciplinary Committee, because no Course 2 student had ever been a member before. The Course 1 and 2 students are also referred to as Blooms and Weeds, with the Blooms holding an air of superiority over the Weeds. Mari wanted Tatsuya to join because of his talent of reading magic spells before they're initiated, which is how he defused a fight that could have gotten many students in trouble on the first day of school. Remember too, he scored highest on the written exams, but it was Miyuki who was chosen as the incoming student representative because of her highest score in the practical magic exams.

Hattori still objected because a Course 2 student doesn't have the magic power to enforce the rules if a situation gets hairy. At this point, Miyuki objected to Hattori's reasoning, because she knows the practical magic tests don't measure Tatsuya's true abilities. In actual battle, he wouldn't lose to anyone. This was sounding too much like she was about to give away Tatsuya's secrets. To Hattori, this sounded like nepotistic excuse making.

Serious Tatsuya got serious after this. You can tell, because he straightened his tie. He offered to have a duel with Hattori to prove that Miyuki's judgment of her brother's abilities is not clouded by familial bonds.

We still have some more characters to introduce, and bit of explanation on how Tatsuya is m4xx0r with magic tools, so the big story arc hasn't been established yet. This is fine. I'm enjoying the BAMF show so far.
