10 Second Anime - Kill la Kill - Episode 20

Kill la Kill - Episode 20

Nudist Beach brings out its big guns. Ryuko gets overridden while Satsuki synchronizes.

With Satsuki and Ryuko on the same side, how were the writers going to get them to fight again? Oh. Oh! You know things are serious and Ryuko is broken down when even a Mako Moment doesn't work.

Mako declares that the Ryuko she knows wouldn't ever say those things about her best friend Senketsu. That's not the Ryuko she knows! Ryuko's self-identity is broken from the revelations about her past, and admits the Ryuko she used to be was a lie. Mako tries one last gambit: put Senketsu on.

But she can't. She'll go back to the Honnouji Academy to take on Harime and Ragyo, even if it is a trap. And, come on, more spiral power during the taunting? Hee hee. She demonstrates that she's already more powerful than she ever was wearing Senketsu, because she knows she's a Life Fiber Monster.

Meanwhile, Nudist Beach has located Satsuki, and discovered that she has been sharpening her big toenails to escape. Her toenails are covered by the same metal as her old sword, which is now reforged into two blades, a long and short katana. She's at Honnouji Academy too. Nudist Beach brings out its hidden weapon: a large aircraft carrier! Their hidden base was just cabins of their big ship. They're on the move.

Ryuko makes it back to the school, and in the midst of sparring with Harime, we find out that Harime is also a life fiber baby, but she was born from an artificial womb made from life fibers. At some point, those scissors really need to come back together, because they are the key to victory. With all the rapid healing from the separated blades, all I can focus on is the eyepatch Harime has to wear because Dr. Mattoi stabbed her there with the whole scissors. That never healed. Ah well, it will still be a dramatic reveal, even if it won't be much of a surprise.

The point of the trap was to get Ryuko to wear Junketsu, and now we understand why he overrides, instead of synchronizes. Wearing Junketsu totally subsumes Ryuko's identity, and implants new memories, culminating on her wedding day, remaking Ryuko into Ragyo's favored daughter. During this sequence, Satsuki escapes.

She's able to handle small groups of Covers with just her feet, but when she is about to be outnumbered, her Inner Council show up in time, and takes her back to the ship. They don't get to relax for long, because a Junketsu-clad Ryuko lands on the deck, and quickly overpowers Kinigase. Satsuki knows where to turn for help, and Cleavage vs. Underboob Round 3 is about to start, but with Senketsu on Satsuki. We've seen how Junketsu looks different on different people, and even Senketsu looked a little different on the side character from Episode 4, but she wasn't fully synchronized. Since Senketsu doesn't need any sexuality to synchronize with Ryuko, just friendship, will his friendship for Ryuko cause him to synchronize with Satsuki because they'll have a common goal? We'll get our answers next time!
