Naruto Shippuuden - Episode 337
Sasuke Shippuuden - Episode 8. Itachi catches Kabuto in his Genjutsu loop. Kabuto thinks he put up a good fight, but that's why he'll stay in that loop a good long while.
Sasuke Shippuuden is almost over, but you know we'll have a filler episode to explain exactly how Itachi's Genjutsu loop works. Remember how I've been saying that the fight was over for three episodes now? All Itachi was doing during this battle was picking moments in reality to include in his illusion. He just needed one good stab from Kabuto to end it.
How does a visual jutsu user cast an illusion on a snake using its other senses? The forbidden jutsu Izanami puts the wielder's own sensations into the target's chakra system. Using the other jutsu of Izanagi, which we saw Danzo use against Sasuke, completes the time loop by going back in time a short distance. This is why the repeated scenes of the cut off horn, the water drop, and the final stab were important, because they were witnessed from Itachi's perspective.
Now Itachi can end the Reanimation Jutsu without killing its user. Nice bag of tricks the Uchiha clan has there. And, this episode had to put in the Tailed-Beast Name song again, just to remind us that it is called Naruto.
