10 Second Anime - Kill la Kill - Episode 9

Kill la Kill - Episode 9

Gamagoori's gimp suit proves a tough nut to crack. Senketsu learns a new trick. Ryuko provides some added "service" to the spectators.

Gamagoori is such a stickler for the rules. That makes sense, since he is the Discipline Committee president. So, no fighting until the proper time. Aikuro tries to convince Ryuko not to fight all the inner council, but he won't say why, yet. He's still just watching over things. Ryuko, of course, refuses.

Then, it's time for the match. And, it starts off kind of slow:

Well, can you blame Ryuko for not attacking? She did see how his suit takes punishment first before exploding into its second transformation. Unfortunately, Gamagoori doesn't need someone else to help him out, and we have a good dose of self-flagellation. Yeah, having a bondage themed suit complete with ball-gag suits this whole premise of being the ultimate shield. Not only that, the actual life fiber suit is underneath all the bits of wrapped cloth, so Senketsu can't eat those life fibers unless they can cut through all the armor, which also feeds power to the suit. Senketsu thinks he has an idea that can work, but it involves leaving battle mode.

Gamagoori falls for the trap, and takes Ryuko inside the cloth armor. He thinks he's safe, because she dropped her scissor sword, but Senketsu has learned a new trick. Turning several parts of himself into blades, he cuts the cloth armor away from the life fiber suit during his new transformation, Ryuko picks up her blade, and severs the life fibers away from the rest of the suit. Utter defeat for Gamagoori. As soon Satsuki saw him pull her inside the suit, she knew he was defeated, and his arrogance over the strength of his resolve was the cause. Very similar to what happened to Sanageyama, but we don't know if Gamagoori will be given a second chance. That's one of the elite 4 down, 3 to go.

One thing I noticed was near the end of the battle, when Gamagoori pulls out his mold for shaping students into their "proper" shape, he castigated Ryuko for wearing such a slutty outfit. She turned it back on him by pointing to Satsuki's very similar look in her own transformed suit. He makes some stupid justifications for her being an exception. Like all fascist/socialist/communist regimes, the elite never have to abide by all the rules put in place to oppress freedom. "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others," so goes the quote from Animal Farm. Nicely referenced here in this battle. Besides, it's not like she was the one forcing all the skin showing. Gamagoori was doing a good job of that.
