Gingitsune - Episode 1
The silver fox spirit herald sure is tsundere about his temple's oracle. Fans of Natsume Yuujinchou and Wagaya no Oinarisama will enjoy this show.
A slice of life show at a Shinto Temple, Gingitsune (Silver Fox) gives us a gruff spirit herald with issues, with a high school girl as the only human he can talk to. He even gets to visit other shrines where old geezers scold him about getting along with his oracle and maybe finding his old partner, because heralds are supposed to come in pairs. We also get an origin story on why he became bound to this particular temple, and likes mikan oranges so much. A nice metaphor near the end is when, after making up with the young girl after a fight, he asks for his payment of an orange, and she gives him a hug instead. Not so gruff now, huh?
I got sold on the show as soon as he paid a visit to those lion dog heralds (komainu), and they started lecturing him in old men voices. That little exchange, plus the affection instead of an orange at the end, made for a good introduction to what this show is about. If they can keep the tone light, slightly sappy, throw in some gags, and just a pinch of drama, this show will make my cut for 10 Second Anime blogging.
