Dr. Stein successfully treats Eternal Feather's wound. Kim and Jackie break up. The meisters give Tsugumi a deadline to choose a partner.

Epic trolling by Dr. Stein! Screw through the head, twice! Robotic head creepily crawling all over the place! And wind-up key in the back when Eternal Feather checks out! Epic!

Obviously, he patched her up really quickly to put together all those pranks, and had time to find the puncture wound left by the ring Shaura Gorgon gave her.

All that trolling produced not one, but two Gargantous's!

Gargantous! Is Tsugumi afraid she'll get a screw through the head too, or is she just empathizing with Eternal Feather?

Um, how long is that robotic head going to be crawling around Death City? Just asking, for a friend...

I don't know... Western Style Eternal Feather Zombie looks better to me than Eastern Style Zombie.

Did the writer just insult Japanese traditions and say that splashing water on the front step and listening to a glass bell ringing does nothing to cool down the house? Yes, I think he did.

Jackie is not taking her breakup with Kim very well at all. Not at all. Somehow, I believe Kim is doing this because she suspects, or knows, that what happened to Eternal Feather was the work of a witch, and she wants to protect Jackie.

Geh.

I think this scene is the first time we've seen the differences in Anya's and Meme's fighting styles with a pole-arm.

It looks to me that Meme is strength-based tank and that Anya is a dexterity-based critical hit build. Anya does a lot more twirling with the halberd to generate head speed, whereas Meme just swings for the fences. Either way, they show that Tsugumi doesn't have to worry about getting strong on her own to protect her potential meister, she just needs to choose one.

Hmm.

I wonder what the significance of choosing your partner by Halloween is all about. Since this is a cute girls doing cute things anime, I can imagine the meister and weapon have to do the bonfire dance at that festival, or something like that.

Last episode, Clay told Tsugumi that there've been cases where a meister will have two weapons, and we see that with Kid and the Thompson sisters, but he's never heard of one weapon having two meisters. That situation seems a bit too dangerous in a fight, where one meister will not be able to defend himself.

I think Anya is right that Tsugumi won't get a sharp edge until she makes a decision about her partner. The meister's fighting style will influence her development as a weapon, and may even give her different forms. Not every weapon can go gallivanting around the world annoying people like Excalibur.

I like how the episode brought us down from the traumatic action slowly back to the more light-hearted pace of its normal cute girls do cute things tone. We had a montage of Eternal Feather healing, with some scenes of the investigation into Shaura Gorgon. Now, if they had only animated that fight in the town square with Maka and Soul Eater as well as they did Meme beating up a tree stump and Anya giving some leaves a nice thrashing. Cutting falling leaves without a sharp edge is still pretty badass, I have to say.
