Rail Wars! - Episode 2
Takayama shows his leadership skills during a bomb attack on Tokyo Station. Sakurai sees that there's more to Public Safety than police work. Nana is Nana, like a boss!
Geh.
T & A in this show definitely does not mean Trains and Anime. The leader of Defense Crew 4 is Nana, and she beats out Koumi and Sakurai in the, ah, development department.
Nana knows when you're looking!
Still, Koumi's, um, motherly nature has a calming effect on lost children.
Cheeky kid. Goes straight for the goods!
But Nana still has the most experience with, er, supportive gear.
Look how quickly she relieves Sakurai of her gun holster. You know that means she's got lots of practice taking off other kinds of "holsters." Hands, like a boss!
Obviously Rail Wars! makes an emphasis on showing breast cleavage, but I didn't yet understand its devotion to a woman's other assets. Very egalitarian. Coming and going, totally covered. Nertz. This is a fan service show, not an ecchi show.
Nice angle, Mrs. Robinson...
I think we've been introduced to all the major women characters now, but I'm not sure who these babes are.
The preview shows us meeting the waitress character next, but not the other one yet. Something to look forward to.
Heh.
Sakurai has her best friend already, and she doesn't need any more.Lucky son of a gun... Not proper gun safety with her finger in the trigger guard, though. She may try to act tough, but she's not above taking advantage of her gender, especially when dessert is on the line. And she still has a gooey center that needs some tenderness when a tense situation is over.
Nana is quite the judge of character. First, taking Sakurai's gun away from her to teach her the customer service side of Public Safety. And then, promoting Takayama to their squad leader because of his focus on customers first and instincts on trusting his teammates. She also knows how to motivate.
Winking. Like a boss! I got big Yuushibu vibes from her. She's pretty much a copy-paste of the manager character from that show.
Meh.
I noticed a drop in quality in some of the transition scenes. Normally, I wouldn't notice it, but it was on the butt cleavage proportions, and that ain't right, if you're going to emphasize the back as well as the front for fan service. The B team needs some more study on how tight skirts work.Hmm.
I didn't mind the cliché time bomb, cut the right wire plot. Making the dessert scene important by showing where you could get liquid nitrogen without the bomb disposal team was a nice touch. The episode was mainly about Sakurai, though. She joined the Public Safety crew to get an adrenaline kick, but gained some perspective on the key aspects of making the trains run on time and serve their customers. Showing some vulnerability and revealing some of her history by talking about learning to dispose of bombs with her father was some good character development.
As for Takayama, I have no idea how he thinks he'll become a train driver by joining the Public Safety side of rail operations. That's a little curious, but maybe there's an actual story there. That just seemed out of place to me.
What an old-fashioned story: a bomb threat for ransom money. Who does that these days?
We're still in the middle of introducing the characters, so maybe we'll start getting to an overarching story by the end of next episode. Whatever is fine with me. I'm just enjoying watching the, ah, Trains and Anime!
