Majimoji Rurumo - Episode 5
Rurumo needs to deliver something to Kouta, but her clumsiness leads to many misadventures and chance meetings along the way. Chiro thinks Rurumo may be growing fond of Kouta.
Meh.
A whole episode devoted to Rurumo being clumsy, forgetful, and dumb? I understand we're supposed to develop feelings of wanting to protect her, but that's a Japanese cultural conceit. I'm not feeling it, and it makes her look pathetic. As a plot driver, a pathetic clumsy girl is good for a side character, but not a main character.
Heh.
Having Rurumo walk around the whole city because she's lost was a good enough excuse to see some of the other characters. Sawashita in breezy summer dress was a slice of alright. And seeing one of the Discipline Committee members revealing her cosplay hobby will be good for laughs later on.
We know from Kouta that "cosplay" is a powerful magic word.
It will get her out of trouble with the law! We finally met the police officer too. Or as Chiro called her, "the cow big sister-type." It's common enough in Japan to refer to ladies with big busts as "cows," because, mammaries.
The guy who does the manga from which the anime is adapted also does Yowamushi Pedal. You know that means he has to have a bicycle somewhere in the show.
All this trouble, and Rurumo almost becoming a tree-thingy because of the restoration magic on her cloak, was because of a phone case. Kouta is being too eager here, because he doesn't even give his cousin's friend a moment to decide whether she likes it or not. And he definitely should not have shown her his own phone case.
Once again, Chiro steals the show. Having a loud argument from a mamachari basket is not something I ever expected to see.
Fireworks are loud. And no, Rurumo, the mosquito repellant is not a firework.
Rurumo ran into pretty much all the characters we've seen so far, but leave it to the Occult Rearch Club to run into Rurumo. Tanako is unclear on the concept of UMA's. Those Unidentified Mysterious Animals don't want to be caught, but if it's Senpai, she'll make an exception.
Rurumo didn't get to actually use any magic this time around, because Kouta didn't need to be rescued. In fact, when Kouta and Chiro came back to rescue Rurumo, they found she had done it herself. Now if she can only remember things and stop tripping over nothing, she might become a main character I want to watch.
