10 Second Anime - Naruto Shippuuden - Episode 336

Naruto Shippuuden - Episode 336

Sasuke Shippuuden - Episode 7. Kabuto origin story complete. If you didn't like how Danzo operated recently, be assured, nothing changed.

Kabuto's monster story continues, and we see a fateful encounter with a little orphan healing a top Root member named Orochimaru. Danzo, leader of Root, extorts a child and Mother, who used to be a Root member, to come work for him in exchange for continuing Konoha's payments to the orphanage. But as Kabuto gathered intelligence, he became a liability because he became too good of a spy and knew too much, and Root maneuvered Mother and Kabuto to kill each other, with Orochimaru assigned to finish off whoever was left. He had other ideas, and explained to Kabuto that Mother couldn't even recognize him, because Danzo gave Mother pictures of a different boy as he grew up, to make sure she wouldn't hesitate in killing him. Nasty piece of work. Kabuto joins Ororchimaru's band of rogue ninjas, and we know the rest of the story, up until Orochimaru's death at Sasuke's hand. Kabuto injected his old master's final form's blood, and we see the monster he is now, after the training with the Snake Sage. The end of the Uchiha brothers' fight with Kabuto is next week, probably. Have I mentioned before that it's already over? Yes, yes, I think I have.

Kyoukai no Kanata - Episode 5

Back to slife after a dramatic couple of episodes. Clubs, part-time jobs, eating out, summer festival, and a little youmu slaying - just another week for our spirit warriors.

Things are pretty much back to normal after the Hollow Shadow has been slain and Akihito was suppressed, but there are consequences. Mirai has to give up her youmu bounty hunting card for a month because she went after the Hollow Shadow, Hiromi has a new scarf, Akihito is a little depressed after his freak out, and Mirai has to take a part time job at the youmu appraisal office to make ends meet.

At least the Literary Club has a new member in Mirai. Gardening books sealed the deal. As we go back to slife episodes, characters personalities will get filled out, I suppose, but not so with Akihito and Hiromi. They still like glasses and little sister type girls respectively, but perhaps Mirai gives them the best combination of the two? Mitsuki pronounces them both perverts. Of course.

Mitsuki offers to take Mirai to the appraisal office, since she's working there too during the festival. Along the way, they do a little youmu slaying, and Mirai finds out the bounty is worth about 500 bucks. She's so frustrated, she has to blog about it right there. Mitsuki apparently reads it too! Ms. Nino repays them by having a big dinner.

Working at the appraiser's office isn't just sitting around waiting for crystals to come in, though. Aya runs a discreet photography side business selling, er, interesting pictures to interested parties. Megane-meido Mirai is sure to be a hit with one of their regulars, initials A. K. They all know that it's Akihito. Aya also takes nudes for her personal collection, and Ai is happy to show off hers. Nice gag showing the original cat youmu form first, but the human form surprises and annoys Mirai because she didn't expect Ai to be so, er, endowed. Needs more blogging.

10 Second Anime - Yowamushi Pedal - Episode 4

Yowamushi Pedal - Episode 4

New character from Osaka comes to Chiba: Sprinter Naruko Shoukichi. Don't disrespect bikes in his presence, even if you're driving a flashy yellow car with an awesome spoiler.

Onoda makes a new friend while touring Akihabara, and immediately loans him 1000 yen (10 bucks) to buy a red mecha model. Naruko Shoukichi from Osaka likes red, bikes, and riding fast. He also knows what an otaku is supposed to look like: wearing glasses and a backpack. Onoda gets stereotyped, even if it is accurate.

Naruko can also tell when a bike has a good companion, as he notices how well-worn Onoda's bike is, but still in good working order. Since Naruko is no otaku, he has no reservations about talking to a tough guy about how cool he thinks his car is. But the tough makes the mistake of throwing his cigarette at Onoda's bike, and Naruko gets pissed off. Onoda gets him to calm down by offering to ride home together. Nice Pinarello he's got there.

Chance smiles on Naruko's thirst for revenge, as they spy the same yellow car on the street they want to take home. Ha! He saved the cigarette butt to give it back to the tough guy, but they have to catch him first. Oh, and if you're going to ride in the street, wear a helmet. Safety first! Onoda shows off his cadence to keep pace with Naruko, but when they need to go faster, he's run out of gears, only having one in the rear and one chain ring. Or does he?

If you've been paying attention to the bikes as much as the rest of the story, you would have noticed a double chain ring and derailleur on Onoda's bike from the beginning of the episode. The Kanzaki's added something to his bike "to use when he needed it." Naruko notices it and teaches Onoda how to shift with his left hand. Zoom! But then they have to cross a bridge with no shelter from a cross-wind. No problem. Naruko the sprinter has been training in wind for years to make sure he can form a good lead-out train. Go, go Onoda! Oh, he's having too much fun beating a car that he forgets to toss the cigarette butt back in the car. That's okay.

This week's cycling porn is all about Shimano.

Freezing Vibration - Episode 4

NSFW for some nudity

Gina the Nova goes down. Charles shows off her tempo based attacks. Elizabeth plans to expose the E-Pandora program for the sham it is.

We see why Elizabeth is pretty good among the elite Pandoras, but she isn't top 5, as Charles comes in for support and reminds her she still needs to master Tempest and Accel skills. Accel is the speed skill, and Tempest is the clone skill. Charles can use them both at the same time with 8 clones because she synchronizes her moves to the beat of French Cabaret music. Gina doesn't last long, and Charles ends up killing her.

The E-Pandora directors, who work for the Chevalier corporation, tell the E-Pandora candidates that they will continue their work on the Mark IV nanomachines, using as many girls as they need. But more of the other girls know that the Mark IV was only used to make a short mock battle to fool the world that they were making progress.

Elizabeth and Satella don't like this at all. The Pandoras are mainly from elite and noble families, and now Elizabeth wants to ask the Mably family for help. She asks Chiffon to join her, but Chiffon's full name is Chiffon Chevalier, and tells Elizabeth not to get mixed up in politics. Satella offers the resources of the powerful El Bridget family, but Elizabeth refuses her, for now.

We're going to get some fleshed out details on the large nefarious forces behind the Pandora program in the coming episodes, so sadly, yes, no more special swimsuit tropical pool episodes. Well, we'll still have battle damage nudity and steamy shower scenes, right?

10 Second Anime - Monogatari Series Second Season - Episode 17

Monogatari Series Second Season - Episode 17

New story arc - prologue to Shinobu's tale of meeting a nameless darkness in Japan 400 years ago. But before that, we get loli-spin, loli-jump, loli-kiss, and loli-punch. Araragi-oniisan has a busy day.

Ah, the start of a new story in Monogatari means head tilting, puns, and rapid fire dialogue. And they all are important details to the story that's to come. Also, no episode 16, since it was a recap of last summer's shows. This new arc is called 鬼物語 (onimonogatari), meaning Demon Story. Since this is ultimately about Shinobu when she was a real monster vampire, this seems apt.

We pick up the main story the day after Araragi and Shinobu come back from their X-Route adventure, and Hachikuji finally gets her backpack back. Along the way, they have a discussion on whether a snail becomes a slug if you remove her shell (Hachikuji's oddity came about from a combination of a ghost and a snail spirit), but if you do that, you end up killing the snail. Hmm. Interesting that they get chased by a nameless formless scramble of darkness later on, and have a chance meeting with the construct Ononoki. She figures out that the darkness can only move about along the ground, and jumps to safety with Araragi and Hachikuji.

After much discussion of his muscles (how does that feel to be on the receiving end, huh Araragi?), much discussion on how Araragi relies on others for information (Shinobu or Hanekawa would probably know what the oddity was, and if not, Shinobu could just eat it) and much teasing of the dormant Shinobu (Ononoki kept stepping on Araragi's shadow where Shinobu would pop out of when she wakes up), Ononoki asks for a reward for her timely rescue. Smooch!

In the epilogue, Shinobu exacts her revenge. Loli-punch! To protect the honor of a passed out Hachikuji. Oh, I guess she wants to call it vampire punch. Fine. And she saw that kiss with Ononoki, and throws a little fit of jealousy since Araragi is always chitchatting with little girls, but only has important conversations with her. Smooch!

10 Second Anime - Outbreak Company - Episode 4

Outbreak Company - Episode 4

Absolute Territory, No-Pan, Total Bottoms, and Traps - Shinichi and Minori go straight to the high level otaku concepts. Plus, Shinichi grows his harem with a furry.

First off, nice little dig on our feelings by making us think Miusel left us on her death bed. But no, just a goldfish. Well played, well played. But she did have a serious injury, and you can tell how long she was gone by how messy the collection room got. I'm only surprised there weren't plastic bags tied up and piled around the walls. Also, the school lessons have started in earnest, and most of the kids have already learned their characters and pronunciation. Time for Last Otaku-kun to shine!

Bam! Zettai Ryouiki (絶対領域), or Absolute Territory: the space between thigh high socks and a miniskirt. Guys, come on, you know you look right there when you see this ensemble. And don't think girls don't know about how important this is either. Then, boom! No-pan, short for no-panties, but in Japanese はいてない (haitenai). Literally, there but not there. Since Japan censors the graphic representation of sexual body parts, artists have gone the route of "less is more." Why mess up your great drawing of a sexy lady with a fuzzed out mosaic overlay? So they use certain angles and butt cleavage to indicate nudity. This technique has bled into all sorts of other non-porn genres, just to add that extra bit of sexiness to scenes in manga and anime.

Well, by this time, Minori thinks Shinichi has gone too far. That dwarf may have a beard, but he's only 10 years old. I'm sure many otaku are jealous of that ability… Minori takes her turn. Oh, remember how she was pairing Shinichi and Garius together in her own fantasies? Well qualified for fujoshi concepts, I said. Bam! Souuke (総受け), Total Bottom, referring to the dominated half in a Boy's Love pairing, meaning this guy only, er, receives. Next lesson: Trap, or otokonoko (男の娘). This is already a pun, because the regular otokonoko (男の子), means boy, but the last character in male trap is actually musume (daughter, girl). Since ko (子), meaning child, is genderless, substituting the specific word for daughter and still pronouncing it ko is a visual pun for BL fans. Literally describing a man who looks or dresses like a girl. Like I said, Minori is well qualified.

There was an interesting choice by the anime director to focus on the mouths of Shinichi and Minori as they pronounced their respective concepts the first time. It reminded me of Japan's censorship of certain words. They also bleep out the words for sexual organs, usually placing some kind of sign over the person's mouth as the bleeping happens, so you can't even read their lips. I feel like the director is explicitly pushing these otaku and fujoshi words out in the open, by doing a reverse censorship technique.

After a successful(?) first day of otaku lessons, Shinichi and Minori return to their compound only to discover a buxom wolf girl drawing their mansion. Shinichi is overjoyed and wants to keep her, even though she is obviously a spy, but he prevails on Garius to use her for counterespionage and he gets to have a resident artist. By far the funniest exchange during the interrogation, besides Shinichi unsuccessfully trying to get Elbia the wolf girl not to admit she's a spy, was Garius showing a fit of jealousy as Minori explains that there's no way Shinichi could have ulterior sexy motives for Elbia since he shares a pure love with Garius.

10 Second Anime - Kill la Kill - Episode 4

Kill la Kill - Episode 4

Outrageous magical outfit anime turns into outrageous gag anime. Who could tell the difference?

The disciplinary committee holds an obstacle course day to expel as many students as possible by making them tardy. Ryuko and Mako, and an injured girl they pick up, try to make it to school on time. Call back gag showing Ryuko's striped panties? Check. Rinse and repeat? Check! Betrayal by new girl as plot twist? Check! Making roll call in the nick of time by destroying half the classroom? Double check!

What I liked about this episode was how the animation style did not use any of the super dramatic lines from the previous episodes. The producers made this show look like a comedy by slightly deforming all the characters and backgrounds as if they were part of a throwaway gag scene. An entire episode like that! After last week's episode, with a battle between the two main powered suits that we would normally see at the end of a show's season, not the third episode, this was a welcome and a funny change of pace.

10 Second Anime - Naruto Shippuuden - Episode 335

Naruto Shippuuden - Episode 335

Sasuke Shippuuden - Episode 6. Not even a hint of the kages this time around. Plus we get Kabuto origin story. Such a cute kid became a monster.

Well, lots more yacking between the Uchiha brothers and Kabuto. Very Bleach-like, and that's not a compliment. Plus, we'll get the drawn out Kabuto origin story continuing into next week too. Aw, he got his name from a helmet (兜) they stuck on his head in the orphanage, and he got his glasses from the nice lady who rescued him from a war-torn village and amnesia. Villains have to come from somewhere.

I paid attention to a few things, though. Like water dripping, and a cut-off horn. Why do they matter? Heh, you'll see.

10 Second Anime - Kyoukai no Kanata - Episode 4

Kyoukai no Kanata - Episode 4

Dream monsters can attack through dreams? What a concept! The big bad this week really likes cute girls in glasses, so Mirai better watch out.

The Hollow Shadow sure lives up to its billing as something to be feared, and also reminds us that youmu are dream monsters. This particular one sucked in three spirit warriors and created a labyrinth from their memories. Lots of good action here, very much like an adventure game (like the Scarecrow zone in Batman: Arkham Asylum), where you have to strike down the central figure before you can escape. After the central body was hurt enough to give up the illusion, we see how cursed, and poisonous, Mirai's blood really is, as it rained down and scorched every living thing it touched. Sakura escaped after the blood rain, so I'm sure we'll see her again. But the battle isn't over, as the Hollow Shadow's external form possesses Akihito. Mirai had to strike him to force the monster out of him, as she did with her friend Yui, but this time she was able to defeat it, leaving its inert crystal form.

Fortunately for Akihito, he's immortal, so he'll get over being stabbed through the chest. Unfortunately for everyone else, trying to hold the Hollow Shadow inside himself, while still suppressing his own youmu half leads to big trouble. If you thought the Hollow Shadow was the Big Bad this episode, you were wrong. Akihito easily overwhelms two talented spirit warriors and a youmu barrier user. Mirai's blood forced the youmu half back down as she embraced him, and Akihito came back to his senses.

There were some interesting notes in the epilogue: Mitsuki's family stole the Hollow Shadow crystal and substituted a cheap one for Mirai to get a bounty, and that actual crystal was shown to a old man behind a screen, presumably the clan's patriarch, before being handed over to the Spirit Warrior Society, to placate them. Is he a youmu too? Do they have some agenda concerning Akihito? We saw Izumi, the oldest sister, create a large barrier to contain the larger attacks from Akihito, but she also created a mirror like barrier so no one could see what they were actually fighting. Giving the Society the Hollow Shadow crystal might be a ruse to explain the destruction in the forest, or a bribe to look the other way for now. We're starting to see the larger story take form.

Yowamushi Pedal - Episode 3

Otaku power, on a properly adjusted bike seat, gets second place. 8 kg bike against 20 kg bike is still a problem, right? Cadence can only take you so far... far enough to Akihabara!

Did you really think Onoda was going to win that climbing race? Heh, of course not. Then this show would have turned into an anime club anime, instead of bicycle club anime. The race was a lot closer than it should have been because Onoda finally got his seat put to the right height, and Imaizumi almost chunked it on a gap in a grate. Guh, I hate those things. Although, if Onoda hadn't stopped on 15% grade and had to start up again, who knows? That's bike racing. So, Imaizumi doesn't join the anime club, which still needs to be reinstated anyway, but he does offer to help get members. Nice guy after all, huh?

That ends our introduction to the show. We've met the big three, seen a few of the secondary characters, but now it's time to deal with what this show is really about: meeting other nerds in Akihabara. What? No, no, no, other bike nerds. This is a sports club anime, so we need to have seniors, juniors, and newbies, which means new character introductions. Sadly, this also means there will be no anime club at the high school. That's okay for Onoda, if there's one more otaku in cycling the club.

This week's cycling porn is all about cadence, really fast cadence.

10 Second Anime - Outbreak Company - Episode 3

Outbreak Company - Episode 3

Otaku missionary work will help sell Japanese pop culture. Traditionalist purists won't like that, though. Defeat them with the power of cleavage and fire extinguishers!

Previously, we saw Last Otaku-kun, er, Shinichi, trying to figure out how to sell media to a people who don't understand Japanese and are illiterate. Well, it sounds like missionary work, except instead of trying to convert people to Roman Catholicism by teaching them the Latin Alphabet and a romance language, it's Japanese characters to sell them manga and video games. That means building a school, and allowing elites and the commoners to be taught together. With the queen's blessing (blessing Shinichi's lap, I mean), this gets done rather quickly.

Eep, I saw a death flag pop up when Miusel the elf-maid asks Shinichi to take her back to Japan when his mission is over.

With the mingling of the classes and the different races in little school, of course a racist terrorist organization is going to take hostages. Good thing Minori keeps a pen knife in her ample bosom, and that Last Otaku-kun programmed his phone alarm to ring on Madoka the Magical Girl's birthday for a good diversion. Minori kicks! Miusel kapows! But the big magical bomb is going to be set off. Oops, no match for a standard issue fire extinguisher. And then the death flag trips, as Miusel takes a knife in the gut to protect the queen. Cliffhanger!

I'm not too worried though. The jealousy subtext between the loli-queen and elf-meido-san is too important to the comedy of this show. Otherwise, Petrarca the queen would not have any reason to throw stuff at Shinichi.

Cleavage vs. Underboob - Fight! Ryuko gets naked for full power mode. Satsuki already has no shame.

Oh, so if you just stop being embarrassed and get naked, then the sailor uniform completes its transformation, and needs way less blood. Easy for Satsuki, who puts on the 100% Life Fiber suit she had made for her, not so easy for Ryuko, who keeps getting lecherous looks from her homeroom teacher and Mako's male family members. But how did Ryuko get past her embarrassment? From a way more embarrassing, er, pep talk from Mako.

Twitter really, really liked one of my tweets...

Twitter liked one of my tweets so much, this one,

that it kept reposting it every 2 - 3 minutes from 3:38 PM yesterday to just before noon today. If you saw all those posts on my social media, this was what was happening. I had to remove my phone number from my twitter account, so at least the text wasn't being posted there, but the glitch meant that my phone number created a twitter account so that it could keep posting that tweet. Yes, my phone made it's own twitter account without any help from me.

Then, because there was a photo attached to the text message, the phone's account would run up against Twitter's limit on how many pictures you can post a day. That took about 5 and a half hours. Then I started getting text notices from Twitter that I had reached this limit. Every 2 to 3 minutes. Thankfully I could unsubscribe via SMS with my phone, but it just created a new account that lasted another 5 and a half hours. I called Verizon to see if the problem was on their end, but they only had the record of the original text message, nothing else. This was all Twitter's glitch.

Finally, after about 18 hours, and 4 different twitter accounts, my phone's number finally stopped tweeting this message. So, a couple of issues: 1) How many active users of Twitter are actually people, instead of random phone numbers glitching every 2 minutes? And 2) Will I finally just bite the bullet and actually post pictures to Facebook? One company already went through a successful IPO, so... hmmm.

Kyoukai no Kanata - Episode 3

"I like little-sister types, which is way better than your eyeglass types!"
"Well, I've put eyeglasses on YOUR little sister."
"WHAT!!??"

Even though this show is supposed to be a horror-fantasy-mystery kind of show, the slice-of-life little conversations carry the humor wonderfully. Hiromi talking with Akihito about what kinds of girls they like, little sisters vs. girls wearing glasses, seems like a normal topic for normal teenage boys to have, but when Mistuki bridges the gap between them, a great reaction comedy bit comes on. Hiromi's world is rocked. Heh. Now we know why Akihito wants to help Mirai so much, even though she's been trying to kill him ever since she entered their school. Which was hard to do, since he's immortal due to his youmu half. Oh, she's stopped doing that now, I guess. We also see how not normal these kids are with Hiromi showing his great barrier skills and revealing that his scarf is not just a fashion statement, and Mitsuki is familiar-using class of warrior.

As the episode opens, we see that Mirai still has a problem dealing the finishing blow to youmu, but her pride won't let her accept Mitisuki's kill. She'll take the bounty money from Akihito though, without much arm-twisting. The details with her psychological block become clearer as the Hollow Shadow approaches the town. Her adoptive parents took her in when she was very young, and their oldest daughter Yui became her best friend. But the last time the Hollow Shadow was seen, it possessed her friend, and Mirai was forced to kill it, and her friend. So that's a very good reason to be reluctant in killing dream monsters.

Now Mirai has a chance to take revenge, and redeem herself by meeting the Hollow Shadow again. But as she's about to enter battle, a younger spirit warrior attacks her, whom she seems to know and calls her by name, while she's also wearing the bell pendant that Yui used to wear. It's probably Yui's little sister Sakura who blames Mirai for Yui's death. Sakura looks like she's got the upper hand because Mirai is reluctant to strike back at her. Just as Mirai is about to get seriously hurt, Akihito knocks Sakura aside. Yup, cliffhanger.

10 Second Anime - Yowamushi Pedal - Episode 2

Yowamushi Pedal - Episode 2

Challenge! If you beat me up the hill, I'll join the anime club. Hey, I didn't ask for all these spectators!

Sports club anime means competition, right? Imaizumi, the serious cyclist, wants to race against Onoda, the otaku, up that same hill he saw him singing on. Onoda is more concerned that Imaizumi saw him singing. How embarrassing! To spice things up, he'll spot Onoda a 15 minute head start, and if Onoda wins, he'll join the anime club with him. Onoda doesn't know if he's serious or not, so he asks him what Imaizumi's favorite anime is. Bad idea. Just saying the Pokémon equivalent won't get you out of a serious discussion on literary themes with otaku, you know.

Kanzaki, the cycling club manager, is also Imaizumi's childhood friend, and her family owns the local bike shop. When Imaizumi drops the anime club flyer, Kanzaki presses him for details on his contest with Onoda. That leads to having a bunch of freshman girls as spectators on the big day. Even with a 15 minute head start, on 3 km flat course, followed by that 2 km steep climb, Imaizumi easily passes Onoda somewhere in the middle. Kanzaki, who appears to be irrepressible, drags her older brother to follow the race in the bike shop van, and finds Onoda just standing where Imaizumi passed him. She doesn't like that at all. I don't either. I got sick of seeing these kids in Over Drive just stop in the middle of a race, when you could easily have despondent thoughts while going slower on the bike. I hope that doesn't continue in this new show. So, Kanzaki marches up to Onoda, tells him to get off his bike, and adjusts his seatpost to the proper height for his frame. Um, a little help, I can't touch the ground anymore. Exactly. She tells him the race isn't over yet, he pushes off, and whoosh! Maybe this race isn't over yet?

And now for this week's cycling porn:

10 Second Anime - Monogatari Series Second Season - Episode 15

Monogatari Series Second Season - Episode 15

Nadeko becomes the new snake god by the power of delusion. Senjougahara is so powerful, she can stop a rampaging newborn god with a phone call.

Reminder: never piss off Senjougahara by messing with her man. Never.

The twist in this Decoy Story is on the level of Sixth Sense. How it gets explained after Nadeko eats the body of the sealed snake god, thereby resurrecting it, is very similar to Memento. Flashing all the way back to when her delusions and selective memory began with seeing Araragi with his girlfriend Senjougahara, and using her knowledge of snake gods from her previous problem and the hint from Ougi about where a sealed snake spirit might be. Everything else was a delusion. All the conversations with the little snake, trying to find the pieces of the snake spirit body as a way to maneuver herself into the Araragi's house to grab the key so she could enter later. Which brings us to the utter defeat of Shinobu and Araragi at the shrine.

Only a well-timed phone call by Senjougahara stopped the destruction of the world. Literally. Depending on whom Nadeko killed first, as explained by Senjougahara, a full-powered Heart-under-Blade would fill the world with zombies, as we saw in Route X, or the entire world population would be destroyed by a rampaging Senjougahara. And as she warns Nadeko, killing her first might not be as easy as she thinks. So, Senjougahara bargains for an armistice of six months, to end the day after she and Araragi graduate from high school. A neo-god thwarted by a phone call.

Some questions that are unresolved are what is Ougi's real deal here? Her strange conversation with Nadeko got this all going, but what was the motive? Another mysterious oddity for our Monogatari Series. And Nadeko had a strange delusional vignette where she imagines all of Araragi's harem join him in some final showdown after graduation. We already know she has a vivid imagination, so will it work out that way? We can only look forward to the next story.

Outbreak Company - Episode 2

How do you sell Japanese culture to an illiterate society? How do you read manga calmly with a loli queen sitting on your lap? Both important questions that must be answered by our Last Otaku-kun.

When last we saw our hero, The Last Otaku-kun, er, uh, Shinichi, he was getting knocked out by loli queen Petrarca. The advisor had to calm her down. Then her cousin, Garius, had to say something about how The Last Otaku-kun definitely could not be so qualified since he was so young, which is hilarious because Shinichi was just knocked out for not believing someone so young could be queen. Well, Shinichi had to stand up for all otaku, and the advisor had to calm Garius down. Quick tempers run in the family apparently.

The SDF liaison Minori might be more qualified for this mission than we thought, as she started imagining all sorts of naughty things happening between Shinichi and Garius. We've got a full-blown fujoshi in our midst.

What I like so far in this show is The Last Otaku-kun is taking his job seriously, and so are the anime producers. No internet means bringing in all the data through hard media. Figuring what things can actually sell if the translation magic is basically telepathy, so written words can't be understood. But the feudal society has 80% of the population illiterate anyway, so just translating the media wouldn't be good enough. The elf-maid character learning how to read Japanese will probably be an important factor later in the show. And this show isn't shying away from the abuses that a feudal society heaps on the serfs. Add in a little imperious loli jealousy, and we've got some drama brewing. Plus, certain portions of this magical society want to learn as much as they can about their visitors through surreptitious means. How naughty, spying on Minori in the changing room!

10 Second Anime - Kill la Kill - Episode 2

Kill la Kill - Episode 2

In tennis, when you've got nothing, you've got love. Heh. Introductions and origins this week, and all the older guys want to take Ryuko's uniform off.

With all the names, even with those big, red, blocky characters, they're still going to need name tags. Ryuko is looking for the person who killed her dad, who only left half a pair of scissors, so she has learned how to use the scissor blade in battle. Even to play tennis? Well, when the tennis ace keeps breaking regular rackets, why not?

Before we get to the villain of the week, which I really hope won't be the format for this show, but I won't care all that much, since the visuals, humor, and action is great anyway, we have a hero who doesn't know how to use her special sailor uniform. Don't you hate it when these magical girls get their new outfits, and they just start spouting off these very specific names for their attacks? I hate it. When did they learn all that stuff when they just transformed? Did they magically download the manual into their brains? Kill la Kill doesn't go for that stuff. Also, our hero spends a lot of her time running away, because the uniform feeds off her blood, so, duh, she's going to pass out soon. But someone has to teach her how to get the suit into battle mode: enter Aikuro-sensei, who knew Ryuko's father too. Quite a fabulous introduction too, after he takes off his sunglasses. A little sumthin' sumthin' for the ladies, I guess. For the uniform to awaken, which she has named Senketsu (fresh blood), it has to absorb a bit of her blood. Aikuro provides a glove for this purpose. Now she can take on the tennis ace, who was harassing her new friend Mako.

I wonder if Ryuko will be staying with Mako's family now, the Mankanshoku's who run a back alley clinic. The big neon sign even says so. Oh, Mako's dad took off Ryuko's uniform too... to treat her wounds, of course. The uniform looks pretty normal when it's not feeding off of blood, I have to say, but it also looks a lot like Ryuko's dad, eye patch and all. Hmm, is Ryuko's dad really dead? Anything is possible in this crazy world of Kill la Kill.

10 Second Anime - Naruto Shippuuden - Episode 334

Naruto Shippuuden - Episode 334

Kage to Sasuke Shippuuden Episode 5. Kabuto drones on and on like a Bleach villain. Madara decides to troll the Kages full service. Itachi completes his attack on Kabuto.

It's really too bad Resurrected Itachi never got a chance to take on Resurrected Madara. That would have been something. But his mission was to end the Resurrection jutsu for all the other resurrected combatants on the battlefields. Wait, why am I talking like Itachi already beat Kabuto? Because he got him with his Genjutsu Sharingan at the end of the episode. When it comes to using his visual powers tactically and strategically, you can't beat Itachi. It's over. I don't care how overpowered Kabuto thinks he is with learning Snake Sage mode, which seems very similar to all the stuff Naruto and Jiraiya went through in learning Toad Sage mode, or how he combined the powers of Sasuke's team members to work with Sage mode. Nice little mention that Karin is a member of the Uzumaki clan. Who's the title character again? Anyway, it's over. And Sasuke was there just to provide a little distraction for Kabuto so Itachi could get his strike in. Like I said, it would have been something to see if Itachi took on Madara. Ah well, maybe it'll be in a movie or video game someday.

Coppelion - Episode 2

Dropped.

I can forgive anime logic, but not no logic. Yes, let me run into a partially collapsed building that's leaning over because that's so obviously the best place to hide from little girls who are resistant to radiation. Such an obvious ploy to manipulate the viewers' emotions while witnessing someone fall from a building is insulting. I don't watch anime to have my intelligence insulted. You know what else is insulting? Calling test tube babies Coppelions in reference to the comedic ballet Coppelia about a man who ditches his lover for a life-like doll. That's not cool, obscure, or outré. That's lame. You know what's not lame? The actual Setokai Yakuindomo girls will get a second season soon.
