Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei S3 — Episode 13 [END] — 10 Second Anime

Tatsuya enlists Masaki to invade the army base where Gongjin Zhou hides in the season finale.

Episode 13 — “Ancient City Insurrection Part V”

Miyuki asked Tatsuya what he saw in Minoru that horrified him. Mahouka’s walking MRI scanner found that Minoru’s biological parents are his aunt and father. The Kudous tried combining their DNA to create a super magician baby. Does that sound familiar? Is incest the cause of Minoru’s frailty? Potentially, but Tatsuya cautions that there is still too much unknown about how magic psions work with human biology.

Mahouka will skip over the slice-of-life parts of the Thesis Competition, as it has done throughout the season. The Kuroba siblings are so proud of themselves. They procured equipment, even the same motorcycle model, for Tatsuya’s upcoming BAMF mission. Kyouko can’t let her special officer attack an army supply base! Special clan missions don’t apply to military rules, though. Tatsuya has a plan — just don’t let the army catch him! Oh. But Tatsuya needs help against the numbers. How about the poor man’s BAMF red version? Masaki even has a red motorcycle!

Gongjin Zhou uses mind control on the military members. Haha! Masaki watches Tatsuya disassemble equipment and wonders what the hell is that! Save your questions for later! Mahouka viewers already know. Masaki’s job is to vaporize gasoline, ensuring nothing blows up after Tatsuya takes apart a vehicle. Masaki can barely keep up! The duo successfully flushed Zhou off the base. And, no surprise, Tatsuya can track Nakura’s blood needle in Zhou’s body. Minoru blew up his car! Fumiya, you’re up! Zhou can’t escape Masaki and Tatsuya’s pincer tactics. Ack. The villain blew himself up, but did he find a way to transfer his soul as his talking statue does? Tatsuya knows Zhou’s body burned up in that flame, at least.

Minoru’s thesis won the competition. Good for him. He described what Tatsuya always does with his save point restoration magic. But next time in Mahouka, how about some movies about the other Yotsuba candidates to become its designated heir? The branch families used this hunt for Zhou to test Tatsuya’s loyalty because he would be the only guardian of Miyuki. They all think they’ve done enough to him to justify ultimate revenge with his BAMF abilities. Aunt Maya boxed them in by choosing Miyuki. Shiba the Destroyer is the ultimate leverage.

Final Thoughts.

Mahouka’s third season would have had two cours instead of only thirteen episodes in another anime age. Instead, 8-bit condensed all the slice-of-life humor and character development into static scrolling montages to hit the season’s action plot points. I thought J.C. Staff had taken over the production duties! Without those fun moments, The Irregular at Magic High School devolved into the trite adaptation exposition strategies of standing around and talking about information instead of showing the audience the plot as it developed. Boring. I will stop covering this title for 10 Second Anime features if future seasons continue this trend. Thankfully, Tatsuya, Miyuki, and the loveable cast stayed consistent within their characters and senses of humor. I only wish we had seen more of the big boobie harem girls, Mizuki and Honoka, this past spring season.
