Before we got more tragic scenes from Emilia's trial, one of the Ryuzu clones needed to tell Subaru about how she met Beatrice, who Echidna raised in the village that became the Sanctuary. There will be importance here for how Subaru rescues her from the Roswaal mansion, but we the crucial details will come after Emilia handles her trial of her past memories.
The tragedy Emilia needed to reconcile was in the memories Puck hid from her to preserve her sanity when they first met. Emilia needs to reconcile her more mature personality with the calamity of the Witch of Vainglory visiting her forest village. Pandora the witch forced Betelgeuse to take in those evil hands of Sloth to protect his love Fortuna. How he became the mad bishop Subaru first met will come later, I'm sure. Before then, the poor girl Emilia trusted her fairy friends in letting Pandora use the Seal to leave her village alone. We know that's not how Witches operate and we have enough clues to realize that the village protected the seal and its key, which related to why Emilia had a treehouse with a door barred from the outside. Who will Emilia meet on the other side of that locked door? I think we know that too.
