Rin made her way to her chosen campsite for New Year's by sampling the views, sites, and shops along the way. She tried to hide her awe at all the great views and comfortable chairs, but she shouldn't even try and let all the feelings out.
Rin collected all the food and supplies she needed for a comfortable night of camping. There aren't trees nearby at this coastal campsite, so there weren't pinecones to gather for kindling. Rin knows how to carve kindling out of chopped wood, so she thinks she can say goodbye to using pinecones. A certain pinecone appears to be sad that it can't be set on fire and die a horrible death.
Minami-sensei joined her camping club members for a New Year's first sunrise viewing at the top of a mountain. Aoi brought her impish little sister Akari who loves teasing Chiaki.
Rin saw her sunrise at the coast and then made plans for her lunch and dinner. Unfortunately, she got a whiff of pizza and needed to fight temptation. She lost.
Chiaki claimed that her crew still had time to see the Mount Fuji sunrise crown, but they only had a few minutes to spare. Minami-sensei knew she had the driving skills to get there! Unfortunately, Chiaki read the time on her phone wrong for when that sunrise would crest over Mount Fuji. Aoi and Akari were not so forgiving of her brain fart.
We got real end credits for the second episode and saw a familiar scene of Rin leaving home in the predawn darkness for a long trip to a remote campsite.
