Toaru Kagaku no Railgun T - Episode 22 - 10 Second Anime

Mercenary group Scavenger seeks to capture Ryoko’s Doppelganger but faces more bad luck when Mikoto stands in their way.

#22 – “Scavenger”

Hmm.

Railgun T confirmed that Ryoko created the Indian Poker sensation to crowd source info and research into creating cyborg organs for her mother’s failing ones. How a cybernetic researcher knows about recorded dream images on polaroid like cards is a mystery and one I doubt we’ll find an answer for before the season ends. What matters, though, is that Ryoko volunteered for the double cyborg experiment to gather data on multiple cybernetic organs installed at the same time. The soul creation was an afterthought, but like everything in the Index Universe, every fear someone mentions when introducing a strange new concept, we know that Doppelganger will become a debris giant trying to destroy Academy City.

One thing fun about the Railgun series is that when the action starts, Mikoto keeps going until it’s over. We won’t have a lot of standing around talking because Mikoto has all the information she already needs. The question I have is how Spiky-kun will make a cameo in the last two episodes. He’s only been obliquely involved in the Indian Poker collection of stories because his friend Pierce was the king of X-rated dreams. Scavenger’s bad luck is the joke for the upcoming fight because they met Level 5 Number 1 and now, they met Number 3. Seike’s defeated cynical sigh captures all their emotions.

Heh.

These sound effects on Doppelganger are great. She’s a heavy, metallic being, no matter how nice her artificial skin looks. Scavenger doesn’t have good luck, which is why they still don’t have an all-caps code name.

Well, this story is going towards a huge soul taking over Academy City. Probably more like a debris giant becoming as large as a skyscraper.

Uh oh. Misaki manipulated, but not really, Mikoto into helping Ryoko after she heard her sad story of trying to help her mother. Ack. Seike’s smugness is going to take a hit.

That’s not good. I’m not happy. The beautiful Neapolitan-skinned Doppelganger is going to turn into a debris freak. Taking Naru’s ugly paper bunny is only the start.

Har. Scavenger complained about bad luck when they met Accelerator, so that deep, hopeless sigh from Seike when she realized the “boy” she was fighting was the famous Railgun. Bad luck. It’s also bad luck that Doppelganger beats Naru at her own game of manipulating material through her “soul.” And then it’s extremely bad luck when the Railgun wants to talk to the mean girls about bullying. Bad luck! Wait, is that how Touma comes back into the story? Shouting “misfortune” at the same time the Scavenger girls do? Let’s go see.
