Jai Hindley of Team Sunweb held a slim margin of 0.86 seconds over Tao Geoghegan Hart of INEOS Grenadiers before the final individual time trial in Milan. Geoghegan Hart turned his effort over the 15.5 km course to a 39 second advantage by the end of Jai Hindley's ride. After the injury and withdrawal of their team captain Geraint Thomas after Stage 3, the INEOS Grenadiers team racked up 6 more stage wins following Ganna's Stage 1 victory. Those victories included two by Geoghegan Hart, the White Young Riders' Jersey, and the overall leader's Pink Jersey.
