President Matsumoto helps in her quiet way. Sakurako feels awkward around Himawari, for a short time. Their little sisters are precious.

Episode 8 - "It is the Piece of a Smile Everyone Acquires"

Heh.

Not all the vignettes were connected like previous episodes, but they were still fun.

 

The extended prologue was like a throwback to classic cartoons with no dialogue and using the orchestra to punctuate the action. With President Matsumoto's low volume talking, this was an inspired choice and worked very well. Plus, the thank you trinkets kept finding proper uses, even the worthless toothpick Sakurako gave her. That whole thing was great.

 

Interestingly enough, it was only straight man Akari who reacted to Matsumoto's low talking.

The other scenes used the other characters' traits to great effect.

Even with no dialogue, Ayano's tsundere antics over "Toshino Kyoko!" shined through.

Energy drinks for middle schoolers? Not even once, Himawari!

So that's what a hyper Himawari looks like. Most of the time you only see this when she's about to lay Sakurako out when she's had enough.

Sakurako's metabolism is way too high. No wonder she doesn't have any extra fat to turn into Sakurako-chan Man with the big boin. Incidentally, those bouncing ball sounds in her dream were hilarious.

 

Sakurako's awkwardness with Himawari after her dream made me think that she may have become aware of her yuri switch. Thankfully, Himawari was straightforward enough to confront her and laid her out with her Himawari Kick.

 

I wonder if the Maso Cider scene with Kyoko was a callback to being accused of being an M.

Bless little Kaede's heart for getting S & M wrong by one letter.

 

I forget if Chizuru is the younger of the twins. If she is, then the last two vignettes were all about the supporting cast's younger sisters. Himawari's kid sister Kaede was a treat to watch as she sat next to the prickly Chizuru. She really drew out her cute side, something she desperately needs to keep hidden from Kyoko.

 

There was a younger sister dynamic with Kyoko and Sakurako too, but their whole outing to the arcade was for Sakurako's little sister. She wanted to get her one of those animal footie pajamas all the other girls wear. And now we know where they came from. Kyoko didn't make them. She won them in a crane game! That's skill and perseverance.
