10 Second Anime - High School DxD BorN - Episode 7

Issei and Rias' group prepare for their Ranking Game against Diodora but find they've been caught in an insurgent plot against the Underworld.

Heh.

Whenever a whole bunch of action is about to happen in this show, you have to pay attention to the dialog again. That's kind of difficult with all the fanservice thrown in your face, but most of the exposition happens when two characters are walking somewhere or standing around together.  Case in point - Issei and Koneko coming back from a devil assignment.

Even in the middle of a great war with many factions, the devils still need to do their jobs when they get summoned. Because Issei was such a weak devil when he was first made, he rode around on his bike to his jobs, but now that he's much more powerful, his regular clients still expect him to show up on his bike as added "service." It was a nice touch to ground the show back in its universe and to keep reminding us of the events of the first season, in the same way Issei's frequent flashbacks of the devil who killed him keep doing.
Hey, that Diodora guy seems kinda shady. So says Chaos Brigade.

Giro Jot del Giorno - 5/31/2015 - Finale

Alberto Contador stayed safe into the finale in Milan to claim the first leg of his Giro-Tour double victory goal for this year. He did lose another 9 seconds on 2nd place finisher Fabio Aru because of gaps that developed in the peloton during the technical and twisty 7 lap circuit for the finishing route. But Contador's victory was cemented by containing his losses on the dirt road up to Finestre. The spiraling climb with all its hairpin curves produced almost Escher like perspectives. For some reason, a BMC rider down at the bottom of the picture is wearing a Sky Team's vest.

After managing his time losses to stage winner Fabio Aru and chaser Mikel Landa, Alberto Contador secured, in his mind, his third overall Giro victory. Officially, this will only be his second, since his 2011 win was stripped because it fell within his backdated 2 year doping suspension that also relieved him of his 2010 Tour de France victory.

10 Second Anime - Shokugeki no Soma - Episode 8

At the Totsuki elimination training camp Souma learns that others have practical kitchen experience too, like the Aldini twins.

Heh.

This Totsuki school needs to do things in a big flashy way. They can't just slowly expel kids throughout the school year. Oh no. They have to do it in extreme situations in a very public manner. Culling may be cruel, but it doesn't have to be boring.

We've been treated to only a few students' and teachers' quirky foodgasms, so what better way to keep the show interesting than having alumni come in and show off their weird inner visualizations of their foodgasms. This Hinako lady stuck a duck head on Placido Domingo, for crying out loud. I wonder if that's her thing.

Without Souma at the Donmono Research Club, I guess Ikumi doesn't have to dress girly prim and proper in her uniform anymore, but her embarrassed feelings for him are still there.

Stage 19 of the Giro d'Italia (Tim de Waele/TDWSport.com) | Read more

The finishing climbs on stage 19 to Cervinia put the riders under the watchful eye of the Italian Alps and the Matterhorn.

10 Second Anime - Shokugeki no Soma - Episode 7

Souma and Ikumi battle over cooking the best donburi using beef. The quality of the beef does not decide the contest.

Heh.

We had a quick bit of flavor of what these Shokugeki look like when Erina demolished the sumo guy's club, but we got the full ceremony with Souma and Ikumi. It's like a boxing match with an emcee, a ring, and elaborate entrances.

Ikumi wears so little, but I guess what little she does wear has to have an impact. I was partial to the cowboy outfit myself.

Ikumi's reputation for choosing meat and butchering it were well deserved.

Giro Jot del Giorno - 5/28/2015

The same way the Tour de France has a yellow jersey for the overall leader because its first sponsor printed its sports pages on yellow paper, La Gazzetta dello Sport, the first owner of Giro d'Italia, still prints its sporting news on pink paper. RCS Sport is the current organizer of the Giro and 6 other races.

10 Second Anime - Nisekoi S2 - Episode 7

Onodera's little sister Haru starts high school and quickly becomes another complication in Raku's life.

Heh.

We've been watching Haru's antics in the opening credits for half the season, so it's nice to finally hear what she sounds like.

Haru is going to be the quintessential high school girl in love with being in love, but the story saddled her with three main characteristics. First, she'll be trying to find the "Prince" who saved her from older guys in the park, which is Raku. Second, she'll be trying to "protect" her sister Kosaki Onodera from the infamous harem king Raku, which the rumors about him don't match at all. And third, she's going to be the panty flashing girl. It looks like Raku's going to be the only target of those flashes too.

10 Second Anime - Nisekoi S2 - Episode 6

Valentine's Day means chocolate hijinks for Raku's groupies.

Heh.

Valentine's Day is just another vehicle to show off the girls' personalities in funny ways, how Raku bounces off of them and maybe just a bit of plot development.

The only real development I saw was Chitoge and Onodera talking about supporting each other with their crushes. Onodera knows Chitoge and Raku have a fake relationship, so she doesn't know for sure who Chitoge likes or who Raku likes. Chitoge doesn't know that Onodera likes Raku. So now they're rooting for each other to make progress with Raku. Melodrama!

Raku had never gotten chocolate from a girl before in his life. First time for even obligatory chocolate came from Tsugumi. She landed the first blow!

Maria went overboard as usual. The best part of her David Raku chocolate sculpture was the overpowered moving pedestal.

Shuu really should have gotten more punishment from Tsugumi for fooling her into thinking that Valentine's Day in Japan means giving chocolate to someone you hate. Tsugumi had no hesitation in giving chocolate she just received to Shuu. Poor girl who gave "The Prince" that nice chocolate, though.

Giro Jot del Giorno - 5/27/2015

Alberto Contador went home today during the Giro's 17th stage. No, he didn't go home to Pinto, Spain. Stage 17 ran from Tirano to Lugano, Switzerland, where, according to Contador's twitter bio, is his home training base during the cycling season. His Giro rivals will still have to battle each other for podium spots as Contador leaves "home" tomorrow to continue the race toward Milan.

10 Second Anime - Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru Zoku - Episode 8

Shizuka-sensei offers Hachiman the outside perspective he needs. Hachiman opens up to Yui and Yukino.

Heh.

Shizuka-sensei is best sensei. I mean, she drives an Aston Martin...

Is it really deus ex machina if it's an established character that drops by in her awesome car to pick up the hero so he can receive divine wisdom in a remote location? I guess an Aston Martin is like a winged chariot. It was driven by a goddess. An unmarried goddess who smokes and drinks...

Hachiman is a lady-killer. He just doesn't know it yet.

10 Second Anime - Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru Zoku - Episode 7

Hachiman sees no improvement in the planning of the Christmas Event as the deadline draws closer. The awkwardness inside the Service Club continues to grow.

Heh.

In terms of plot, not much really happened this week. Iroha is taking her time getting to the meetings because she walks so slowly to them since she hates going to them. Who can blame her, really?

Hachiman's relationship with his sister is a pure microcosm of the kind of friendship he wishes he could have with other people. Just the freedom to be himself, be a little selfish, and have fun acknowledging those idiosyncrasies of his personality. Right now, he's still operating under the notion of leaving as little a footprint as possible with those he's starting to care about.

Iroha found out something good about Hikigaya-senpai! His former crush was attending those meetings too.

Aw, Hachiman likes little girls because they remind him of his sister. Iroha did her usual dance of denying a love confession, even though she likes older guys. She looked disappointed that Hachiman didn't rise to the bait.

More characters from the first season showed up with little Rumi from the summer camp thing where Hachiman blew up her little circle of friends. This was a nice way for Hachiman to see that his methods really don't work as long term solutions since Rumi may not be picked on anymore, but she hasn't made any new friends from her school either.

Hachiman appears to have hit rock bottom at the end of the episode. Trying to take responsibility for Iroha's presidency isn't really helping and then Yukinoshita told him he didn't even have to show up to their club time anymore. The whole point of helping Iroha on his own was not to burden the Service Club with a situation he created and then he was threatened with being sent away from something he was trying to protect. Hachiman needs to find a different way, but it obviously isn't going to come from within himself. Who will help him?

10 Second Anime - Naruto Shippuuden - Episode 413

Gaara ends the conspiracy against him. The Chunnin Exams end early but the candidates are sent home with recommendations. Filler arc ends.

Heh.

Sheesh. Looks like Gaara got some master lessons in Talk no Jutsu from Naruto too. Naruto convinced Nagato to give up his life to revive all the casualties of his attack on the Hidden Leaf. Gaara convinced the hardliner that the new generation of shinobi won't be trained by hate and revenge, so seppuku for him. Respect the Talk no Jutsu! It just may end up saving the world some day...

OMG! The filler arc only took half the Spring season. Are we going to follow the manga story all the way through the Summer to its conclusion?

Aw, right in the feels. Neji got Jounin promotion and Lee said Team Guy would last forever. Neji RIP. You died well.

Wow, I totally did not make the connection that the Hidden Rain summoner was going to be one of Nagato's Six Paths of Pain. She looked familiar, but not even her pulling a pissed off panda out of her seal reminded me of what she could do as a dead puppet. Having those same ninjas handle the body recovery that were met by Jiraiya and Kakashi was bringing it all back to the beginning of the Shippuuden tale, as was the scene mimicking the opening chapter when the Two-Tails Jinchuuriki was brought in. It really gives me the feeling that there's no more space for filler in the anime now.

Also aw, Fuu was the first Jinchuuriki taken by Akatsuki. Little details like Kakuzu being from the same village and his monster hearts belonging to the village elders was a neat piece of closure.

Tenten is resigned, bored and familiar at Lee's antics.

10 Second Anime - Naruto Shippuuden - Episode 412

Neji leads his team and others to save Gaara and Fuu from having their Tailed-Beasts extracted.

Heh.

Fuu and Gaara show that there are two main types of jinchuuriki - the quiet loner and the hyper fool. Fuu definitely reminded Gaara of Naruto. By the time the 4th Ninja War rolled around, only Naruto and Killer B were left as active hosts. It looks like to me that the hyper fool is the better personality type to hang on to the Tailed-Beast, but obviously Fuu had been dispatched by then too.

Too bad Neji died already. He could have opened up a chakra acupuncture shop when he retired.

Fuu may be a creepy bug lady, but at least she gave us much needed comic relief.

Pfft. Gai, Asuma and Kurenai didn't even have to do anything. Gai must have been so proud.

That monk guy got caught by his own trap. Didn't he know how to stop those chains, or turn them off? Maybe the chain's downside is that once invoked, either the Tailed-Beast wins the tug-of-war or the jinchuuriki does. That's how Killer B explained it to Naruto when he finally befriended Kurama and met his mom.

Gaara is safe, the Hidden Sand kids were going to give Neji another useless Heaven scroll, and the Chuunin exams need to move on to the next part. With what Neji did in saving Gaara, we have a big hint of how he became a Jounin so quickly.

Giro Jot del Giorno - 5/25/2015 - Rest Day

One of the nice things about footage from onboard cameras in the pro peloton is that viewers can finally see what the riders see from inside a tunnel. The cameras on the motorcycles broadcast their signals via microwave to a following plane or helicopter, and the signals often get blocked by trees and tunnels. The issue of using the small cameras for live pictures will probably face the same problems, but at least the video files can be quickly uploaded after a stage is over. Here we see pictures from the mountainous stage 15 yesterday.

10 Second Anime - Ore Monogatari!! - Episode 7

Takeo helps the judo club win a match but his training prevents Rinko from seeing him for a month.

Heh.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder, even if the absence is caused by a slight misunderstanding.

I like how these crossed signals between Takeo and Rinko are starting to get shrugged off. That's a nice sign of growing trust and deepening bonds.

Rinko compares Suna's friendship with her love for Takeo. Her fluttering heart may always be there concerning Takeo if Suna still finds him surprising and interesting after ten years close friendship.

Ha! Takeo almost scored a fatality on his old rival just by having a girlfriend by his side. Girlfriends are good, he said. Double ha!

The cliché among warriors is that having romance in their lives affects their discipline and strength. Suna gave Takeo the other side of that argument - show off for your girlfriend. Yes, love can be a source of strength too.

Takeo had a good reason for not being in the judo club - he forgot to join. I can see that.

Suna's deadpan humor got more play. Always a good thing.

There's always some kind of calamity in each episode where Takeo helps out. Last episode it was as minor as a cat stuck in a tree. This time around, the crisis was the plot of the episode, but no jumping through fire or catching falling beams. It was just a slice of life adventure where Takeo's two main relationships bounce off the circumstances. Kind of relaxing, actually.

I'm glad Rinko was aware that her stalking Takeo was kind of creepy. She's got it bad for her big hunk of man meat.

Best of all, Rinko began to establish a sense of normalcy by hanging out with Suna too. It's always nice when the best friend and the girlfriend become friends too. Nice people being nice to each other. Nice.

10 Second Anime - Ore Monogatari!! - Episode 6

Rinko admits to Ai that she wants to hold hands with Takeo and "stuff." Takeo accepts Rinko's other secrets.

Heh.

Well, it really was all as simple as Rinko being physically attracted to Takeo and worrying that he wouldn't like her anymore if she wasn't the "pure-hearted" girl he thought she was.

Hoh. Rinko had her heart set on Takeo from the beginning and she did many brave and somewhat sneaky things to make sure she made the most of her chances with him. Like going to his school to ask who he was and where he lived and even forgetting her cellphone on purpose so she had an excuse to see him again. Girls have their own weapons. Kinda scary...

Rinko and Takeo fangirling over Takeo's looks and physical qualities had Suna wanting to get out of there.

Giro Jot del Giorno - 5/24/2015

One of the problems of riding in the rain, besides the slippery conditions, is that riders have a better chance of picking up a stomach bug. How does this happen? The wet spray and muck can accumulate on water bottles and in open mouths and riders can get sick the same way hikers do if they drink from an open stream without purifying the water. You will see experienced riders spraying water from their bottles in order to clean the grit from the nozzle before taking a drink.

10 Second Anime - Hibike! Euphonium - Episode 6

10 Second Anime - Hibike! Euphonium - Episode 6
Taki-sensei requires band members to audition for their spots. The bass section seeks to motivate Hazuki's tuba playing.

Heh.

Taki-sensei's nickname of the good-looking demon (and mean too) seems well deserved to the band members not used to hard work and lots of practice. Now that he required the players to audition for the final spots in the competition ensemble, that nickname is going to stick.

With open auditions that means the tradition of having the seniors automatically chosen was set aside and there's going to be some tension as the talented juniors might displace them. I can see their "fans" throwing fits too.

Natsuki, the seemingly disinterested junior, perked right up when she heard the chosen music and got motivated by Kumiko's sight reading. How many spots are there for euphoniums again?

The point of freshmen and juniors competing with seniors for seats is that Hazuki the new tuba player has a shot. Unfortunately for her, she's not quite motivated at playing the bass notes since the music sounds pretty boring. This sounds like a job for Asuka.

Giro Jot del Giorno - 5/23/2015

Giro Jot del Giorno - 2015-5-23

Alberto Contador was back in the leader's jersey after a commanding performance in the long time trial on stage 14. He finished third on the day, but more importantly, put in huge time gaps against his GC rivals. Interestingly enough, until the crash yesterday, Contador had never lost the leader's jersey in any grand tour once he put it on, keeping his lead to win the overall. The only times before yesterday he "lost" a jersey were when two of them were stripped as part of his doping suspension for clenbuterol, losing the yellow jersey for the 2010 Tour de France and the pink jersey for the 2011 Giro d'Italia.

10 Second Anime - High School DxD BorN - Episode 6

10 Second Anime - High School DxD BorN - Episode 6
Two more girls join Issei's household. Diodora declares his love for Asia. Issei prepares for the school sports festival and a devil ranking game.

Heh.

School's back in session and Issei's friends can't forgive him for not joining them at the beach to hit on girls. I'm not sure they actually did that and just blamed Issei not being with them for not going.

Irina rejoins Issei's harem. She was the original member, after all, even if he thought she was a boy way back then.

Giro Jot del Giorno - 5/22/2015

Alexandre Geniez's short stint as a breakaway leader during stage 12 shows exactly how badly rain can affect the road surface of what would normally be a very fun descent during a relatively flat course. A young child and a dog towards the end of the video appear to appreciate Geniez's handling skills, while Contador seems to be relieved.

Giro Jot del Giorno - 5/21/2015

Alberto Contador's GC rivals have many reasons to be afraid of his improving performance after today's rainy stage into Vicenza. He finished 2nd, gained a time bonus, made a gap and put more time into his closest contenders. But the scariest thing happened on the podium.

Giro Jot del Giorno - 2015-5-21

Contador has not popped the cork on the celebratory Prosecco on the podium for seven stages since he popped his shoulder out on stage 6. With his bruised legs feeling better, he had already been testing his rivals on short climbs after the rest day. But now that his shoulder is feeling better, that long time trial on Saturday might not hurt Contador as much as others had been planning, especially because he is no slouch on the time trial bike, winning time trials in the Tour de France and being a former Spanish Time Trial champion.
